Back to the Future LEGO Set On Sale August 1

In terms of movies that have their own LEGO sets, Back to the Future was long overdue. Luckily, LEGO announced at San Diego Comic Con that such a set will be available in the very near future, so if you’re eager to see Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown as LEGO figures, stay put and have your wallet ready.

Apparently, Comic Con is not all about superhero flicks and hit TV shows. This convention actually focuses on everything sci-fi and fantasy. As Back to the Future fits in the science fiction genre, it’s no surprise that it makes an appearance every now and then. This time, the classic movie trilogy was present at LEGO’s booth in form of a long-awaited set of bricks.

Marty McFly even has a skateboard, as seen in the following picture, for the LEGO fans who want to reenact the famous scene. The Doctor, on the other hand, is in his typical outfit.

LEGO fans have to thank Togami and Sakuretsu, the two build masters who submitted the design on CUUSOO. Based on what they submitted, veteran LEGO designer Steen Sig Andersen created the design of the final set.

Some of the fans who have read the news on the LEGO CUUSOO blog pointed out that there’s a spelling mistake on the Flux Capacitor. Hopefully, what people will get next week has no spelling or grammar errors.

The DeLorean is certainly one of the most sought-after pieces of this set. Above you can see it in three different versions, while the one pictured below can be admired in all of its glory.

The set wouldn’t have been complete without the plate numbers. Marty and the Doctor seemed to always be out of time, thing that is even pointed out on the registration pad.

LEGO states that the Back to the Future set is for kids aged 10+ years. The way I see it, I bet there will be plenty of collectors and enthusiasts much older than that who will buy this. As I mentioned in the title, the set will be on sale starting on August 1. The ones attending Comic Con 2013 had the chance to buy one if they wanted, but the booth only had limited quantities. The recommended retail price is of $34.99 / €34,99.
