With a new Star Wars movie in the horizon related media is pouring out of everywhere – and so productions like this hoodie pop up and we can’t do anything but write about them.

We have seen quite a few Chewbacca and wookie related hoodies and appearel throughout the years (we’re partial to a really funny video the beautiful LIz Katz did a while ago), but this is the first one we’ve seen that actually tries to replicate Chewie’s iconic look, and make it into a wearable jacket. Were you planning on taking a trip to Hoth? Because this is the type of stuff that could help you survive that climate.

Now, this is quite something, as this hoodie literally looks like they had to skin a wookie to make it – sorry vegans and eco-conscious people! Yet it turns out this is is just one  of the products at Welovefine, and retails for some $60 USD. Also, we were kidding, this is all synthethic and no wookies nor other animals were harmed in creating this. Now tell us you don’t want to wear this once Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens in theaters across the globe.

Steampunk Link cosplay from Legend of Zelda looks just amazing http://walyou.com/steampunk-link-cosplay/ http://walyou.com/steampunk-link-cosplay/#comments Mon, 09 Mar 2015 18:34:22 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=215536

For whatever reason it might be, it’s always the girls who do the best Link from The Legend of Zelda, and this steampunk cosplay is no exception.

Costa Rican cosplayer Molecular Agatha created this genderbent cosplay featuring Link from The Legend of Zelda in one of our favorite versions yet, steampunk style. It has some unbelievable details and finishes that both give the Hylian lad a fantastic look while also keeping him recognizable.

The whole costume was the product of her teamwork with Karen Poblete, who also worked on the suit, and Daniela Alfaro, who took the pictures and chose the locations.

Although the sword and shield are totally the center piece of this costume, the boots and gloves still deserve particular attention. If you want to see more of her creations, be sure to visit Molecular Agatha’s DeviantArt page.

Metroid’s Samus Helmet Replica Glows In The Dark http://walyou.com/metroids-samus-helmet-replica-glows-in-the-dark/ http://walyou.com/metroids-samus-helmet-replica-glows-in-the-dark/#comments Fri, 20 Feb 2015 14:48:27 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=215301

Prop shop Raptor With A Shotgun are giving you a chance to live your space bounty hunter dreams by selling an amazing replica of Samus Aran’s helmet.

A defining part of her armor, Samus’s helmet has always been one of the coolest things about the Nintendo protagonist. And on their part, RWAS has done a marvelous job in recreating it; they even added a glowing light to the green translucent visor that works superbly in both the day and night.

The helmet itself is made of sturdy, but light weight materials, weighing in at around 4-to-5 pounds and should be comfortable to wear for your long cosplaying sessions. The rest of Samus’s get up isn’t included though, but at least you’ll be starting off on right Space Jump Boot.

Right now Raptor With A Shotgun is selling their replica Samus helmet – there’s only one of them for sale, so act now! – for $400 USD through their official Esty store.

Halo helmet for motorcycles: almost cosplay? http://walyou.com/halo-helmet-for-motorcycles-almost-cosplay/ http://walyou.com/halo-helmet-for-motorcycles-almost-cosplay/#comments Wed, 18 Feb 2015 15:00:45 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=215251

Don’t be surprised if starting now you start seeing Master Chief riding around on cities and freeways around the world: it’s just an incredible helmet, not John-117.

With video games becoming more and more a part of popular culture it’s not weird to start seeing references to our favorite games in our daily lives, including commutes, In the case of motorcyclists. Turns out NECA has created a special helmet for them, one with all the special safety measures required for a safe trip, but one that is also a perfect replica of the one Master Chief wears in the beloved Halo series.

The main thing about these helmets is that they combine safety with geekiness, with all pertinent measures in place to ensure the users get to their destination safely. The helmet’s exterior has a layer of UV protection as well as some ventilation holes and straps to secure it into place. The inside part is meant to be comfortable, and can be disassembled to be easily cleaned.

This helmet is a special edition and only some 42,100 units will be produced in four different sizes. If you want one yourself, they are coming out in July 2015 and only NECA will be selling them. Good luck and good hunting!

9 Disney Princesses Reimagined as Indian Brides http://walyou.com/disney-princesses-reimagined-as-indian-brides-01-14-2015/ http://walyou.com/disney-princesses-reimagined-as-indian-brides-01-14-2015/#comments Thu, 15 Jan 2015 14:00:12 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=214743

The most popular theme in Internet alternative fan art is taking Disney Princesses and giving them some new, unique look. Weddings aren’t excluded from this trend, but giving it an Indian twist is still something new and original.

Amrit Grewal who took the photographs for this project wanted to demonstrate how Disney can inspire multiple ethnicities’ aesthetics.

This was done together with Jasmine Nijjar, who worked as the Marketing Manager for Wellgroomed Designs, an Indian couture bridal gallery. Jasmine built a theme that used each Disney princess movie as the inspiration all while integrating traditional Indian bridal wear.

Assassin’s Creed Kitten Cosplay Is Deadly Cute http://walyou.com/assassins-creed-kitten-cosplay-is-deadly-cute/ http://walyou.com/assassins-creed-kitten-cosplay-is-deadly-cute/#comments Mon, 03 Nov 2014 13:00:27 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=180676

Don’t underestimate these furry assassins, they’re purrfectly trained bounty hunters.

Our geeky love for cosplay has now caught on with our feline friends. From the website that brings the Internet an endless daily supply of “the cute” from the animal kingdom, Cheeszburger.com, is a cast of kittens donning the shadowy robed figures of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed.

How effective would a legion of kitten assassins be in eliminating their target? Well, in this following video (made by YouTuber Mr.TVCow), apparently good enough to take out a bunch of British Redcoats. And in the most adorably possible way, too! Leaping off tiny ledges, jumping into small mounds of hay, and parkour-ing through rocky terrain.

Now, I’m not so exactly sure how they take down their intended mark without having accurately-sized weapons (or how they would even hold them without opposable thumbs for that matter), but I’m going to guess their target’s have strong cat allergies. Anyway, take a look!

3D Printed Samus Aran’s Vaira Suit From Metroid http://walyou.com/3d-printed-samus-arans-vaira-suit-from-metroid/ http://walyou.com/3d-printed-samus-arans-vaira-suit-from-metroid/#comments Fri, 24 Oct 2014 14:00:49 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=180317

A Replica Prop Forum user uses a 3D printer to create an amazing cosplay of Nintendo’s popular gaming heroine, Samus Aran.

Need some last minute Halloween costume inspiration? Perhaps you should take a look at what Replica Prop Forum’s member Talaaya has created in two years time using a friend’s 3D printer, a fabulous recreation of Samus Aran’s Varia Suit from Metroid Prime 3.

As many keen-eye Metroid fans might know, the Varia Suit has been the choice outfit worn by Nintendo’s famed space-bounty hunter through many of her adventures, and Talaaya has done an excellent job of making her own cosplay-version.

Talaaya modeled and printed her suit after a Garry’s Mod 3D file, which was created by a Facepunch member called medrop, and the materials used are fairly common to find; the suit’s rad paint job is actually car paint, to give it that lovely metal shine.

The Varia Suit’s assembly was still a tricky one overall, getting the individual model pieces to look right – particularly, the chest and shoulder pieces crafted from silicone – which took a little trail and error on Talaaya’s part, but in the end came together amazingly.

Here’s a snippet of video of Talaaya trying out her Varia Suit:

You can find more pictures of Talaaya’s Varia Suit cosplay, both of the finished product and its assembly, over on her WordPress blog. I would imagine if Talaaya ever showed up at any Halloween costume parties, she would have no trouble winning; I know she would have my vote!

While Cosplay has been going on for over 100 years, beginning probably in Japan, it took some time before it became the convention phenomenon it is today.

The book Cosplay World reviews the evolution of what some consider to be an art form, featuring stars of the craft such as Yaya HanCrystal Graziano, and Spiral Cats.

Pro Voltage Cosplay Shows Off Metal Gear REX Costume At Otakon http://walyou.com/metal-gear-rex-cosplay/ http://walyou.com/metal-gear-rex-cosplay/#comments Mon, 25 Aug 2014 13:00:03 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178844

This Metal Gear REX cosplay is more than just solid, it is absolutely awesome.

Cosplay and robots are typically two things a person is most likely to run into at an anime convention. But on a special occasion, oh say frequenting the second biggest anime convention in the United States, Otakon, it is possible to find both at the same time – case in point, this radical Metal Gear REX cosplay from Pro Voltage Cosplay.

The talented cosplay group from New York debuted their bite-sized version of the titular mech behind the Metal Gear Solid saga from Japanese game maker Konami at this year’s Otakon, and if I didn’t know any better, I’d swear Hal Emmerich – the anime-loving scientist and chief engineer behind the nuclear-armed bi-pedal tank – was amongst Pro Voltage’s ranks considering the fantastic quality of its build.

Mobility though, is where the Metal Gear REX costume, unfortunately, has problems. Ruby Taki, the person inside the hulking mech, only has a limited range of articulation.

Ruby can move REX’s head, arms, and legs all right, but when it comes to taking a casual stroll through the open spaces of the Baltimore Convention Center, not so much. The costume has its wearer on stilts, and combining that with the heavy weight of the mech itself, well, it doesn’t make for a good match as Ruby herself admits.

Thankfully, we’re not judging this Metal Gear REX cosplay in Olympic gymnastics. Looks are what matter here. And in that department Pro Voltage Cosplay has done a terrific job. Check out a video of the costume being assembled at this year’s Otakon, recorded by Mike Hecxz.

I fully recommend following Pro Voltage Cosplay on Facebook, where you can see more of their cosplaying efforts. If the name hasn’t tipped you off already, the group has an affinity for the Metal Gear Solid series and has splendid cosplay of characters within that universe.

12 Superheroes at Their Loneliest http://walyou.com/lonely-superheroes/ http://walyou.com/lonely-superheroes/#comments Fri, 15 Aug 2014 13:00:27 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178288

From the fortress of Solitude, to the Batcave or even Peter Parker’s slimy bachelor’s pad, Superheroes, be it in costume or their alter-ego, need their alone time to decompress. This fantastic series of photos shows them (or people dressed like them) at their loneliest moments out in the wild, away from the pressures of saving the world.

Spider-Man sitting on an empty road

The Batman of Notre Dame

Or just in some cave

Superman up North

Or “stranded” on a tiny island

The creator of this series is French artist Benoit Lapray. According to him, this might be Superheroes on a quest, but a quest to find themselves.

Or up on a Cliff

And getting away from there

Wolverine in the wild

Captain America up some hill

Flash-ing through the fields

Thor in the Woods

Woder Woman in some lake

Or some waterfall

Iron-Man is here too

And so is the Silver Surfer

Hulk loves being one with nature

Catwoman hiding somewhere
