7 Marvel Superheroes With Their Own Comic Book Cereals http://walyou.com/marvel-superheroes-comic-book-cereal/ http://walyou.com/marvel-superheroes-comic-book-cereal/#comments Tue, 07 Oct 2014 13:00:57 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=179892

Not that we need any more advertising and brand placing in our lives, but this idea of using Marvel Superheroes (and one lovable movie villain) like Iron Man, Thor, Captain American, Loki, Hulk, Groot and Deadpool on cereals boxes is incredibly cool.

The combination of Bamboota and Elliot Fernandez brought together this wonderful project, taking a very needed spin on the boxes of morning cereals.

Iron Man (Iron Bran)

Comes along with Pepper Potts, the mandarin, a lot of money and also a potential drinking problem, not to mention the Nick Fury eye patch.

Loki (Loki Charms)

Comes along with a depress Thor and also one awesome staff among other things. And speaking of his bashing brother…

Thor (Honey Nut Thorrios)

Comes along with his Avenger friends, including the useless Black Widow and Hawkeye. Ther Mjolnir as well, if you’re worthy of picking it up.

Deadpool (Deadpools)

As expected from the Merc with a Mouth, this box comes with things that go Boom!

Hulk (Gamma Snacks)

If you get these gamma snacks, you’ll also receive a Loki with a black eye, one solemn Nick Fury and maybe Gamma radiation, which usually isn’t a good thing.

Captain America (Ameri-Crunch)

You’ll be filled with Red, White and Blue emotions after biting your way through this.

Groot (Groot Loops)

How a well made film made a tree and a raccoon incredibly popular.

Kickball Ice Cream Maker combines sports & deliciousness http://walyou.com/kickball-ice-cream/ http://walyou.com/kickball-ice-cream/#comments Thu, 28 Aug 2014 12:00:49 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178935

Of all the cool yet weird ideas we’ve seen around the web, this Kickball Ice Cream maker might take the cake… errr, ice cream.

The Kickball Ice Cream Maker is a simple concept: if you’re already going to kick a ball around and work a sweat, how about you make ice cream at the same time? It costs $35 USD at Hammacher Schlemmer, so you would only have to go into the supermarket to get the ingredients afterwards. As the creators explain, users just have to put cream, sugar, vanilla or any other flavoring inside one of the ball’s sealed compartment, and ice and rock salt into the second one. Then, after a quick game of football or soccer, depending which side of the Atlantic you live in, you get to enjoy up to one pint of ice cream. You’ll be enjoying something tasty and working out at the same time, which is pretty awesome!

3D-Printed Food Could Soon Feed the Planet http://walyou.com/3d-printed-food-could-soon-feed-the-planet/ http://walyou.com/3d-printed-food-could-soon-feed-the-planet/#comments Mon, 18 Aug 2014 12:00:01 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178353

As meal makers look for more ways to make food that’s both nutritious and incapable of spoiling, 3D printers could be the chefs of the future.

How do you like your eggs in the morning? Freeze dried and completely unlike the delicious runny yolks you’d usually find in any diner worth its salt? Well me too! I jest, but that sort of God awful meal plan is what many soldiers around the globe are subject to. As it stands, a lot of the meat they eat is imitation and the dough and cheese and other products that you’d expect to be ‘fresh’ are made in such a way that they’re incapable of going mouldy. It would be disastrous if an entire platoon of soldiers suddenly got sick because someone didn’t realise that a loaf of bread was a couple of days past its use by date. Food like this also means that soldiers get the nutrition they need to do their country defending duty – the problem is, it’s probably the most unappetising thing that you could imagine. So roll on 3D printed food then, which the US Army is considering to expand its diet.

The plan, according to Army Magazine, is to use something called “ultrasonic agglomeration” to fuse particles with ultrasonic waves in an effort to provide more meal options. Not only would that make ‘imitation pork ribs’ a thing of the past (these are genuinely a real thing) it would also mean that specific meals could be put together for specific tastes and dietary needs. Got a bit of scurvy? 3D print something with citrus fruit in it to get the feeling in your gums back. Need to bulk up for a special operation? 3D printed carbohydrates for your diet!

Part of the US Army’s project involves a compact unit that would be capable of turning foraged items (tree bark, berries, you name it) into actual meals. As well as that being incredibly useful for soldiers, if they were rolled out to countries that typically suffer from famine, or just to us non-military people in general it could genuinely change the lives who usually go hungry because they cannot afford food of have no way of accessing proper nutrition. It’s unclear if the US Military would be willing to share its nutritional trade secrets with the rest of us, but it’s a nice thought regardless.

Bacon-powered motorcycle: ultimate badassery http://walyou.com/bacon-powered-motorcycle/ http://walyou.com/bacon-powered-motorcycle/#comments Fri, 15 Aug 2014 14:00:19 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178312

Just because you’re looking for an alternative to gas doesn’t mean your motorcycle has to go vegan! Check out this ride, actually powered by meat.

Straight from the documentary Driven By Bacon, what you’re seeing in this story is a Diesel motorcycle that uses bacon grease as fuel.

This incredibly sweet ride (or not so sweet, it’s bacon after all) was commissioned by Austin company Hormel, so it is appropriately called the Hormel Black Label Bacon Motorcycle. It runs on B-100 bio-diesel  which in turn converts from bacon waste. That means, if you’re having bacon every morning for breakfast, that will also power your bike.

In the end, bike fuel comes to only $3.50 per gallon, and the bike will run 75-100 miles with it. Still, the best part is that the bike allegedly leave a trail of bacon smell as it is driven around. Guess we don’t need to buy perfume anymore, huh? Hormel is looking for a willing bacon lover who drives it from Austin, MN to San Diego, CA, so be sure to do some research, that can be you!

Comic-book anti-hero beers: feels good to be bad http://walyou.com/comic-book-anti-hero-beers-feels-good-to-be-bad/ http://walyou.com/comic-book-anti-hero-beers-feels-good-to-be-bad/#comments Wed, 13 Aug 2014 13:00:29 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178257

Let’s face it, it’s the heroes that are not actually heroic 100% of the time the ones that we like the most. Here’s an (alcoholic) tribute to them.

These bottles are the creation of Butcher Billy, who already has made quite a name for his uncanny creativity. This time around, he has created a collection which he called “Comic Book Super Drunk Hangout”, in which we see beer bottles themed after some of Marvel & DC’s greatest anti-heroes… amongst others.

There’s no Superman or Captain America here: this collection is for the true badasses, the likes of Deadpool, Wolverine, Marv, Hellboy, The Comedian and others. Be sure to check the initial link to get the entire set!

Picard facepalm cookies: the tasty generation? http://walyou.com/picard-facepalm-cookies/ http://walyou.com/picard-facepalm-cookies/#comments Tue, 12 Aug 2014 13:00:45 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=178213

Picard face-palming: the Internet’s unique way to demonstrate frustration since the early 2000s. But you know what’s frustrating? Being this hungry. That is why we’re glad someone managed to combine one of our favorite stills from Star Trek: The Next Generation and cookies. The result is simply awesome. Behold!

All this came from the mind of Jenn frin JustJenn Recipies. By using a Picard facepalm cookie cutter, she created these sweet treats which she then proceeded to paint in the Captain’s black and red colors, using food gel dye. Compare to the original below, isn’t this version tastier? At least, edible, at all.

Residents of Tokyo now get to taste the geekiest dish this side of the planet, as Roppongi sees its first Pikachu Café open.

What you see in this collection of pictures is not just random food with the Pokémon brand slapped in to get a quick buck: this is an actual café’s menu that will be open for a very limited time in Tokyo, in the Roppongi district. It’s called, appropriately so, Pikachu Café, and it will be open between the 19th of July until the 31st of august.

It’s also not only the café that is open, as the Pikachu the Movie XY Exhibit also opens this saturday in Japan with tickets priced at 1,500 yen (US$14.80) for adults. Sounds like a fantastic weekend plan, huh?

Game of Thrones – Now There’s a Wine http://walyou.com/game-of-thrones-wine/ http://walyou.com/game-of-thrones-wine/#comments Tue, 08 Jul 2014 14:00:57 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=177039

The attempt to squeeze every bit of dollar available from the phenomenon known as ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ or ‘Game of Thrones’ has reached the wine section of your kitchen, with Common Ventures coming out with a line called ‘Wines of Westeros’.

Anyone who has read the books known George RR Martin loves his food descriptions. Part of what makes the story so great are the details he goes into in giving us a full, breathing, believable (as far as fantasy worlds go) universe.

Part of that is giving us a whole lot of different wines from different parts of his universe: Arbor Gold, Dornish Reds, Sweet plum wine, Sweet Reds from the Reach, Apricot wine, Golden vintage from the Jade sea and more.

The real ‘Westerosi’ wines will retail at around $20, and will probably be set to launch when Season Five premiere’s, which will be about 10 months from now.

There’s also a method to the names: The red wines are all associated with the houses that are head strong and robust. The whites on the other hand are more cunning, perceptive and mysterious, according to Jane Burshop of Common Ventures.
