So what do we have this season? A lot of Dorne, as Jaime (unlike the books) gets sent down South. This means more Martells and the Sand Snakes. There will be Tyrion somewhere after escaping King’s Landing, Arya going to Braavos, Jon Snow on the Wall and a lot more to be revealed.

These are the new characters: New actors for the fifth season include:

Alexander Siddig as Doran Martell, the ruling Prince of Dorne, and elder brother of the deceased Oberyn Martell.
Toby Sebastian as Trystane Martell, the son of Doran Martell.
Nell Tiger Free as Myrcella Baratheon, Cersei’s daughter. The role was portrayed by Aimee Richardson in the first two seasons.
Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand, the eldest of the “Sand Snakes”, the bastard daughters of Oberyn Martell.
Jessica Henwick as Nymeria Sand, the second-eldest Sand Snake.
Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand, another Sand Snake and the daughter of Ellaria Sand.
DeObia Oparei as Areo Hotah, the captain of the Dornish palace guard.
Jonathan Pryce as The High Sparrow, the leader of the militant faithful in King’s Landing.
Hannah Waddingham as Septa Unella, a member of the “Most Devout”, the ruling council of the Faith of the Seven.
Enzo Cilenti as Yezzan, a Yunkish nobleman and slave trader.
Michael Condron as Bowen Marsh, First Steward of the Night’s Watch.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Malko. Few details have been released about the character, although he is not based on a character from the novels.

5 Creepiest Pages on Wikipedia http://walyou.com/creepiest-wikipedia-pages/ http://walyou.com/creepiest-wikipedia-pages/#comments Fri, 24 Oct 2014 13:00:27 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=180304

Wikipedia is a great site to learn stuff from and get lost for hours through the endless amount of information. It’s also a place with some very dark corners and stories, and you can find yourself reading some very creepy stuff in there.

A French showman and solider known for his unusual (to be gentle) eating habits. Able to eat vast amounts of meat, he was constantly hungry; his parents could not provide for him, and he was turned out of the family home as a teenager. He travelled France in the company of a band of thieves and prostitutes, before becoming the warm-up act to a travelling charlatan; he would swallow corks, stones, live animals and a whole basket full of apples. He then took this act to Paris where he worked as a street performer.

After a rough experience with the military, he agreed to submit to any procedure that would cure his appetite, and was treated with laudanum, tobacco pills, wine vinegar and soft-boiled eggs. The procedures failed, and doctors could not keep him on a controlled diet; he would sneak out of the hospital to scavenge for offal in gutters, rubbish heaps and outside butchers’ shops, and attempted to drink the blood of other patients in the hospital and to eat the corpses in the hospital morgue. After falling under suspicion of eating a toddler he was ejected from the hospital. He died at the age of 26.

Also known as the boats, it is an ancient Persian method of execution. The method? The intended victim was stripped naked and then firmly fastened within the interior space of two narrow rowing boats (or hollowed-out tree trunks) joined together one on top of the other with the head, hands and feet protruding. The condemned was forced to ingest milk and honey to the point of developing a severe bowel movement and diarrhea, and more honey would be poured on him to attract insects, with special attention devoted to the eyes, ears, mouth, genitals, and anus. In some cases, the executioner would mix milk and honey and pour that mixture all over the victim. He would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or be exposed to the sun. The defenseless individual’s feces accumulated within the container, attracting more insects which would eat and breed within his exposed flesh, which—pursuant to interruption of the blood supply by burrowing insects—became increasingly gangrenous. The individual would lie naked, covered from head to toe in milk, honey, and his or her own feces. The feeding would be repeated each day in some cases to prolong the torture, so that fatal dehydration or starvation did not occur. Death, when it eventually occurred, was probably due to a combination of dehydration, starvation and septic shock. Delirium would typically set in after a few days. (Image via gadgetpics)

The Flatwoods Monster

Also known as the Braxton County Monster or the Phantom of Flatwoods, is an alleged unidentified extraterrestrial or cryptid reported to have been sighted in the town of Flatwoods in Braxton County, West Virginia, United States on September 12, 1952. According to the story, the boys who met this alleged extra terrestial creature suffered from vomiting and convulsions due to the mist surrounding it. (Image via beyondthecircle.net)

Rat King

Known as Rattenkönig in German and roi de rats in French, Rat Kings nvolve a number of rats intertwined at their tails, which become stuck together with blood, dirt, ice, or feces – or simply knotted. The animals reputedly grow together while joined at the tails.

June and Jennifer Gibbons

A unique story about a pair of twins from Wales known as the silent twins who only talked to each other, shutting themselves away from the outside world and refusing to be torn apart from each other. They agreed that if ever one of them died, the other one will begin to speak and live a normal life. During their stay in the hospital, they began to believe that it was necessary for one twin to die, and after much discussion, Jennifer agreed to be the sacrifice. In March 1993, the twins were transferred from Broadmoor to the more open Caswell Clinic in Bridgend, Wales; on arrival Jennifer could not be roused. She was taken to the hospital where she died soon after of acute myocarditis, a sudden inflammation of the heart. There was no evidence of drugs or poison in her system, and her death remains a mystery. (Image via Buzzfeed)

Minecraft Player Creates Working iPhone 6 Inside Game http://walyou.com/minecraft-player-creates-working-iphone-6-inside-game/ http://walyou.com/minecraft-player-creates-working-iphone-6-inside-game/#comments Wed, 22 Oct 2014 14:00:39 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=180209

This is one iPhone 6 you won’t be able to bend as hard as you might want, because it’s made out of Minecraft blocks by one expert Minecraft creator.

The recent launch of Apple’s newest flagship smartphone, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, have been the big talk of the Internet over the past few weeks. Even the pixelated, sandbox spaces of Minecraft seem to be a buzz with iPhone-mania, and in particular, one Minecraft enthusiast building a working iPhone 6 within the game.

German YouTube’er and Minecraft user, Tom Shuffle (or SHUFFLE as his hacker alias is known), posted this 13-minute video of his fine Minecraft creation, and while it might not have all the neat bells and whistles of your real-world iPhone 6, it does feature a sliding lock, working home button, and functioning apps.

Well… “functioning” might be a stretch to say, but they have the look down if nothing else. And some apps do work, like the music app and painter app, the later a cute addition by Tom that lets you paint directly from the Minecraft iPhone to your blocky-heart’s content.

Check out the video below to see the Tom’s Minecraft’ed iPhone 6. It’s in German, but creative awesomeness is a universal language anyone can understand!

Frozen as an classic retro video game http://walyou.com/frozen-retro-video-game/ http://walyou.com/frozen-retro-video-game/#comments Mon, 13 Oct 2014 13:00:40 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=180043

Frozen gets the pixel art treatment as it’s depicted as a classic 8 (more like 16, maybe even 32) bit video game. The result, just like the movie, is incredibly charming.

The team at CineFix have created this version of Frozen, retold as if it was an old school, 8 bit classic from the NES days… or maybe SNES, as the sprites are too pretty for the NES to handle! Now, the web gets to relive Elsa and Anna’s story with retro-gaming visuals..Check the video below these lines.

Back to the Future 2 style shoes with LEDs http://walyou.com/back-to-the-future-2-shoes-leds/ http://walyou.com/back-to-the-future-2-shoes-leds/#comments Fri, 26 Sep 2014 13:00:30 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=179717

Back to the Future 2′s most iconic scenes took place in the future, which in theory should be next year! Is the technology we have now as good as in the movie? Well, sort of!

A couple years ago Nike had created their own version of the Back to the Future 2 shoes that Marty McFly wears in the classic movies. Well, this is not the exact same thing, but a pretty good replica at a fraction of the price!

This is a creation by Halloween Costumes, a pair of shoes with rechargeable LEDs that cost less than $100 USD. If there’s any justice in the world, they should be pretty popular this year come Halloween.

So now you have an idea for Halloween. How hard could it be to get the rest of the costume anyways? And, best of all, you’ve saved almost $10.000 USD.

Is This Facebook Policy Offensive to the LGBT Community? http://walyou.com/is-this-facebook-policy-offensive-to-the-lgbt-community/ http://walyou.com/is-this-facebook-policy-offensive-to-the-lgbt-community/#comments Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:00:05 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=179554

After receiving criticism for its ‘real name’ policy, Facebook will be meeting with San Francisco officials to fix it.

In many places on the worldwide web, such as Twitter and the comments sections of most websites, we don’t have to use our real names. For whatever reason – maybe we’d rather go by a nickname or maybe we really want people to call us ‘SwagMaster420′ – we often embrace the chance to shed whatever our parents and guardians scribbled on our birth certificates and instead choose to go by something else. Except, that is, on Facebook. Understandably plenty of people just go by their real names, Facebook is a tool through which friends and family (who know your name) can stay in touch with you after all, and Facebook even requires us to use our legal names on the platform. But what happens if our legal name and our real names aren’t the same? Well that’s where things get somewhat more difficult.

The issue of Facebook’s real name policy is a difficult one particularly for members of the LGBT and drag communities. For trans* people and drag performers and artists, the name listed on their birth certificates may not be the name that they actually go by and not allowing them to change puts an immense amount of pressure on the person who will have to face the possibility of being misgendered or wrongly titled. No one should have to go through that but despite Facebook saying that users “have several different options available to them” if they want to use a different name, the fact of the matter is that Facebook either gives you hoops to jump through or just locks you out of your account altogether.

That’s what happened to Sister Roma of San Francisco drag group The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence who was locked out of her Facebook account and forced to go by the name on her birth certificate, Michael Williams, which is a name she says she hasn’t used for almost 30 years. Sister Roma also took to Twitter to voice her concerns, being joined by many others in the #mynameis campaign to express their frustration. The movement even led to a petition being created against the policy which now has just under 20,000 signatures as of the time of writing.

Furthermore, it’s also been noted that not only could Facebook’s policy could cause physical harm to those who are trans*, drag performers as well as those outside of those identities alike. For example, if someone is a victim of domestic abuse and has since fled that situation, they may wish to use Facebook under a different name save their abuser find them again. The same goes for those who have fought custody battles and may be using the site under a different name in an effort to protect themselves and their children.

These are all things that San Francisco officials will have urged Facebook to consider in a meeting that took place Wednesday. It’s yet unclear what the outcome of that has been but given that Google reversed a similar policy on their social networking site Google Plus when pushed to do so, there’s a chance that this round of policy backlash will see Facebook’s ways changed too.

12 Brilliant Bingo Games to Play While Watching TV http://walyou.com/tv-shows-bingo-games/ http://walyou.com/tv-shows-bingo-games/#comments Fri, 19 Sep 2014 13:00:05 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=179557

Some people actually think that Bingo is simply the name of a dog from a song. But it’s much much more, and besides the associations it has for being a great pass time for the elderly, it also makes for an excellent facilitator during TV shows.

Some people watch their favorite TV shows playing drinking games. But what’s the point of losing all your cognitive abilities while doing something you’d like to focus on? It’s better to pay even closer attention to details, while putting yourself in a position to win something.

Game of Thrones

The Walking Dead

True Blood

Family Guy

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

The Big Bang Theory

Boardwalk Empire

Downtown Abbey

Sons of Anarchy

Well, we haven’t really been paying attention to Bingo through the years here on Walyou. But there is a mention to it in a funny little post about what some characters do on their day off. Some of them play bingo.

8 Amazing Pop Culture Mashups Ideas for T-Shirts http://walyou.com/pop-culture-mashups-t-shirts/ http://walyou.com/pop-culture-mashups-t-shirts/#comments Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:00:05 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=179485

One of the best artists to combine humor with a lot pop culture references in his work is Matt Cowan who came up with another excellent idea for a series of pop culture mash-ups that would make incredibly cool T-shirts.

Prince Jonosnoke

Jon Snow is the most emo of the Game of Thrones characters and Princess Mononoke might be the best of what Hayao Miyazaki gave to the world.

Itchy the Killer

Combining the worlds of a TV show inside a TV show cat & mouse that hate each other with that of a manga series called Ichi the Killer.

Red Dwarf

Gimli son of Gloin is the better known half of this duo. Red Dwarf is a brilliant TV Show which is something of a science fiction standup.

The Kevin Bacon Mix Tape

Go watch Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Star Lord Bros.

Another Guardians of the Galaxy reference, combined with the two most famous Italian plumbers in the world.

Bender’s Game

Bender, one of the most obnoxious robots in the history of television, and the Ender’s Game book, which turned out to be a slightly crappy film.

Tis Nothing but a Scratch

Combining Darth Vader and Monty Python is a wonderful idea.

Peppa Potts

A combination of the delightful Peppa Pig and the Iron Man duo of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.

These works and a lot more can be found on his Deviantart page.
