With a new Star Wars movie in the horizon related media is pouring out of everywhere – and so productions like this hoodie pop up and we can’t do anything but write about them.

We have seen quite a few Chewbacca and wookie related hoodies and appearel throughout the years (we’re partial to a really funny video the beautiful LIz Katz did a while ago), but this is the first one we’ve seen that actually tries to replicate Chewie’s iconic look, and make it into a wearable jacket. Were you planning on taking a trip to Hoth? Because this is the type of stuff that could help you survive that climate.

Now, this is quite something, as this hoodie literally looks like they had to skin a wookie to make it – sorry vegans and eco-conscious people! Yet it turns out this is is just one  of the products at Welovefine, and retails for some $60 USD. Also, we were kidding, this is all synthethic and no wookies nor other animals were harmed in creating this. Now tell us you don’t want to wear this once Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens in theaters across the globe.

5 Trading Cards Revealing the New Star Wars Film Characters http://walyou.com/trading-cards-star-wars-vii-characters/ http://walyou.com/trading-cards-star-wars-vii-characters/#comments Fri, 12 Dec 2014 14:00:36 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=207470

More and more information is leaking out about the new Star Wars film (Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens), with trading cars revealing names of the characters from the trailers causing all the stir this time.

When the original SW film came out in 1977, Topps released a series of cards featuring scenes and characters from the film (IV: A New Hope) and it seems J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy, the president of LucasFilm are taking the retro approach to their latest tease about the new characters.

Kylo Ren is probably going to be Adam Driver’s character, and his Lightsaber has been the most talked about thing on the Internet for the last couple of weeks.

This lovely lady on a speeder will be portrayed by Daisy Ridley, who had a few scenes in the ‘Inbetweeners 2′ film that were cut from the theatrical release.

Seems like the R2-D2 of the next film.

This banged up X-Wing pilot will be portrayed by the fantastic Oscar Isaac.

Portrayed by John Boyega, all we know about Finn is that he’s in a stormtrooper uniform and he seems to be in quite a hurry.

While the internet had one huge nerdgasm over the new Star Wars trailer, not a lot of people were too happy with the new lightsaber, already known as the ‘crossguard lightsaber’.

‘Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens’ isn’t coming out for a whole year, but the excitement over every bit of information leaked out by J.J. Abrams causes huge title waves of reaction online.

Most people are simply excited that we’re getting a new chapter to the saga, but there were plenty of those who had to make fun of something that presents too drastic of a change in their opinion.

3D Printed Lightsabers: just like the real thing http://walyou.com/3d-printed-lightsabers/ http://walyou.com/3d-printed-lightsabers/#comments Fri, 07 Nov 2014 12:00:31 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=192369

It’s been a while since we talked Lightsabers and Star Wars, and since today we learned that Episode VII is called The Force Awakens, so did our passion.

The laser part of the Lightsabers can’t be recreated just yet, but the rest of it is fair game already thanks to 3D printing, and Jacky (aka Valcrow), who has created a bunch of CAD drawings that anyone can check out if they wish to build (err, print) their own. It comes in two versions, a simpler one made out of just 4 pieces, and a more complex one, with 14 pieces to assemble. Still, we’re not complaining, Luke Skywalker had it rougher than we did anyways. Now we’d like to see alternative versions such as Darth Maul’s dual lightsaber, because why not? Clearly Valcrow is talented enough.

There is a force of destruction that is more primal and effective than the Force or the Death Star… Fire, and of course Lord Vader would harness it.

Instructables has an incredibly creative userbsase, such as doddieszoomer, the mad genius who created the Darth Vader mask wood-burning stove. He was even kind enough to provide instructions for those of us who might be not so good at design, but crafty enough to want to create their own. Just head over to Instructables and follow his directions, and Lord Vader will be ready and at your side to make any situation that much hotter.

We don’t know if the Sith are vegetarian or not, but it doesn’t make a difference for us, meat-eaters, because we get cool gizmos anyways.

Grill & BBQ fans that are not afraid of hovering too close to the dark side should check out what the ThinkGeek came up with: a long metal fork themed after Lord Vader’s very own lightsaber.

This officially licensed product has a lightsaber hilt for the fork, which is made of stainless steel. It measures 1.5 inches in diameter and 20 inches long, and can be shipped anywhere in the US and Canada. Are you getting one, Anakin?

R2-D2, the serving table droid: giving Jabba new ideas http://walyou.com/r2-d2-serving-table-droid/ http://walyou.com/r2-d2-serving-table-droid/#comments Tue, 24 Jun 2014 12:00:54 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=176699

When we got a peek at Jabba’s canteen in Star Wars, we noticed most of the waiters were droids. After seeing this creation, we get it: they’re just cooler than organic things.

If you’re feeling as evil as Jabba, or just would rather have these instead of humans going around with the drinks, all you have to do is check Etsy seller Starbays page. There, you’ll be able to acquire these fiberglass statues for mere $1,495.99 USD. Buyers get to pick wheter they want R2-D2 or C-3PO, and the color scheme at that. Keep going down for another picture of our golden buddy.

Silverware doesn’t really scream “cool” or “geeky” when you think about it, but after fusing that with Star Wars, you would be surprised by how much you may change your mind.

You don’t need a Jedi pilot to slice those cucumbers! The Star Wars X-Wing Knife Block is a set of silverware themed after the X-Wing Fighters we’ve seen and loved in the original Star Wars trilogy. You may pre-order it now, as it’s an official piece of merch, too!

Few things sound as terrifying as a flying set of knives, but hey, that’s nothing the force can’t control, anyways.

Gravity-Defying Star Wars-esque Aero-X Hoverbike to Be Launched in 2017 http://walyou.com/gravity-defying-star-wars-esque-aero-x-hoverbike-2017/ http://walyou.com/gravity-defying-star-wars-esque-aero-x-hoverbike-2017/#comments Tue, 20 May 2014 20:10:37 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=175889

Flying vehicles are not an impossible dream, at least according to California-based Aerofex, who intends to launch something that resembles quite a lot the speeder bikes from Star Wars.

In the not so distant future, roads could serve the simple role of guiding us to our destination, instead of offering support for our cars, as they do today. Flying cars and bicycles seemed like something one could only see in sci-fi flicks, but fiction is rapidly turning into fact as hovering bicycles make their way into our lives. Aero-X is a definite example of how flying vehicles could look and work, and we only have to wait till 2017 to see them on our streets.

According to Mark De Roche, the founder of Aerofex, “The Aero-X’s intuitive operation, low cost, and unique capabilities make it suitable for disaster relief, search and rescue, and patrolling borders and game parks.” Personally, I think that this Star Wars-esque hover bike could even be used for leisure and for work, even though the vehicle isn’t that fast and it can’t really carry a heavy load.

The two carbon fibers rotors can lift the Aero-X hover bike 10 feet in the air. That is probably achieved when the vehicle is not carrying two people.

In terms of speed, the hover bike made by Aerofex can travel at up to 42 mph (that seems to be a sweet spot for galaxy hitchhikers, if you know what I mean). Measuring 14.8’ in length and 6.8’ in width, the vehicle can carry a load of no more than 310 pounds.

Not only the features of the Aero-X hoverbike are spectacular, but also the design. Apparently, it will be offered either in black or in chrome, and all that for an expected price of just $85,000. Indeed, this is a bit of a steep price for a bicycle made for two, but the thing is that you don’t see flying hoverbikes every day, now do you? The company is currently accepting deposits of $5,000 for pre-orders.

Below is a clip from August 2012 demonstrating Aerofex’s early prototypes in actions:

Is it a toy for rich kids or will it become the standard for vehicles people use? This remains to be seen, and we will surely cover the launch of the Aero-X hoverbike in 2017.

Star Wars Pancakes: May The Taste Be With You http://walyou.com/star-wars-pancake/ http://walyou.com/star-wars-pancake/#comments Mon, 05 May 2014 14:00:56 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=175411

The 4th of May might have been yesterday, but we love Star Wars each and every single day of the year. Combine that with breakfast, and you’re in for something awesome.

The Star Wars universe is packed with strange, wild and majestic creatures, and all we can think of is what would they taste like. But being that some of us geeks are vegans, vegetarians, or  just don’t like the taste of alien creatures, we’ll offer an alternative instead. This is pancake artist Nathan Shields‘ project, where he turned some of the creatures seen in the movies into delicious breakfast treats to delight geeks. Will you try making your own?
