We know what you’ll be thinking as soon as you see this: “what’s with the third button?!”. Well, even that has an explanation, but you’ll have to read below.

There’s a very cool boxcar travelling around the USA that features the likeness of an NES controller for the world to enjoy. Yes, there are three buttons there, and there’s a reason why they’re there. They sport the initials A, L, and B after the piece creator, TEXER ALB. Geeks around the country have been taking pictures of the boxcar, because… well, who wouldn’t? That’s quite a sight.

The images come via Kgriffin88 and elsewhere1, by the way, so many thanks to them!

Star Wars Action Figure Graffiti Is Absolutely Stunning http://walyou.com/star-wars-action-figure-graffiti/ http://walyou.com/star-wars-action-figure-graffiti/#comments Mon, 17 Mar 2014 13:00:02 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=174281

Fitting of every geek’s darling, there’s Star Wars graffiti all over the biggest cities in the world, but hardly one quite as stylish as this set.

The artist behind this collection is an animated character designer by the name of Phil Postma. He created this bunch of illustrations (meaning, it’s not an actual graffiti on some city’s walls, just done in that style) of imaginary Star Wars action figures cards.

The inspiration for the project came when Postma saw an image of an R2-D2 action figure made to resemble a spray can, and the rest is history.

Postma claims to be no street artist by any means, but after seeing these, we sorta wish he’d reconsider.

Forget About Westeros: Game of Thones’ The Wall Exists In 3D In London http://walyou.com/forget-about-westeros-game-of-thones-the-wall-exists-in-3d-in-london/ http://walyou.com/forget-about-westeros-game-of-thones-the-wall-exists-in-3d-in-london/#comments Wed, 19 Feb 2014 14:00:40 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=173704

The 3rd season of Game of Thrones has just been released in DVD and Blu-Ray, and in order to promote it, this piece was commissioned for London.

What we see here is The Wall, the ice barrier guarded by the Night’s Watch in Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire that defends the land from the White Walkers. This is depicting one of the key scenes from Season 3, that is, the moment that some wildlings and the bastard Jon Snow scale it to cross over to Westeros.

The responsible for this piece is Joe Hill, founder of 3D Joe and Max, and he mentioned being extremely excited about this commission. Well, it shows, so fantastic work!

Super Mario Bros. Utility Building Warps Up In Illinois http://walyou.com/super-mario-bros-utility-building/ http://walyou.com/super-mario-bros-utility-building/#comments Sat, 11 Jan 2014 16:28:51 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=172848

Check out this unique Mushroom Kingdom paint job done to a utility building in the middle of who-knows-where.

I don’t speak fondly of many utility buildings, but then again I don’t speak about many utility buildings at all. Maybe if I was still working that summer job as a custodian, sure. Although, this utility building located in the great state of Illinois is quite different from the one I shared my time in (slacking off like any other employee in their early twenties.)

The owners of this utility building decided to ditch the drab when choosing a new paint job and go with something a lot more attention getting, choosing an amazing Super Mario Bros. collage that presents the likes of Mario and Luigi – more Luigi than Mario really – along with a gathering of bending warp pipes, bricks, and question blocks.

It’s a shame no one is able to track down the exact location of this imaginative utility building in the land of Lincoln, but I guess the owners didn’t want a bunch of nerds stinking up the joint. Probably for the best though. Some things are better left a secret, and maybe one day you’ll be lucky enough to come across this fun-looking building.

Incredible Batman Street Art Spotted In The Wild http://walyou.com/incredible-batman-street-art/ http://walyou.com/incredible-batman-street-art/#comments Thu, 26 Dec 2013 15:00:11 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=172402

Around my area, if you go into derelict buildings, you get mugged. That’s not the case in Belgium, though. There, you come across Batman art instead. A much more preferable option, if you ask us.

An imgur user from Belgium came across these while exploring around an abandoned hospital (how very Silent Hill of him!), along with a message that read “There’s beauty in destruction.”

The cool thing about this story, though, is that there is somewhat of a mystery to it: no one knows who’s the artist behind these pieces, even though all of them are tagged as “Pete” or “Peteone”. Who are you, mysterious talented guy? We hope more of your art surfaces soon!

Sonic The Hedgehog Invades The Streets Of Paris http://walyou.com/sonic-the-hedgehog-invades-the-streets-of-paris/ http://walyou.com/sonic-the-hedgehog-invades-the-streets-of-paris/#comments Wed, 18 Dec 2013 13:00:19 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=172006

Street artist Invader manages to beat the cold of winter to put up his latest piece, which features Sega’s famous blue hedgehog.

Excellent street art is always appreciated here on Walyou, especially when videogames are involved. Check out who’s tapping his feet and waiting for you to pick up the controller on this building wall in Paris, France, it’s Sonic the Hedgehog himself. Hmm, he seems particularly miffed here for some reason – probably found out there wasn’t any chili dogs around.

The tiled, pixel-like portrait you see here was done by anonymous French street artist Invader. Who, I would imagine based off his love of the medium videogames, particularly of the retro variety, throughout his/her’s many impromptu works, takes his/her nom de plume and calling card (notice the alien above Sonic’s head) from the classic arcade shooter Space Invaders.

Over at Invader’s web-portal, you can track down all of their creations. And it’s pretty evident from the huge amount listed there that Invader has been busy like a street-art making bee. Heck, even the frozen grip around Europe this time of year was no match for Invader and his/her talents. For which we get Sonic the Hedgehog and all his cool attitude above a little French cafe.

I wonder what the world’s fastest hedgehog would look like after three expressos? I guess some questions will never be answered, but thankfully with the amount of geeky posts here on Walyou – like taking Game Boy Camera selfies or a bicycle that helps purifies the air – it’s bound to come sooner or later. So stay tuned!

Tron Graffiti Up In Shoreditch Embelishes The Walls http://walyou.com/tron-graffiti-up-in-shoreditch-embelishes-the-walls/ http://walyou.com/tron-graffiti-up-in-shoreditch-embelishes-the-walls/#comments Tue, 26 Nov 2013 14:00:58 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=171259

East London houses a lot of interesting street art pieces, but this one, being particularly geeky, caught our attention, as it’s inspired in Tron.

We don’t know a lot about these pictures except for the fact that they were officially commissioned by Disney themselves. We’d like to point out who’s the creator of these, in any case, so we could give proper credit!

The murals depict some of the scenes and characters from the most recent entry in the Tron saga, Tron: Legacy. An interesting detail, though, that can be only appreciated in the final picture of this set is that they all combine in a bigger, continuous picture, which is pretty awesome.

We want to thank the guys at It’s The Shiznit for spotting these and taking these pictures.

10 Brilliant Batman Graffiti Artworks http://walyou.com/batman-graffiti-street-art/ http://walyou.com/batman-graffiti-street-art/#comments Fri, 15 Feb 2013 17:00:08 +0000 http://walyou.com/?p=159520

Street art, mostly referring to Graffiti, is awesome, as long as it’s awesome. Well, few things are better than Batman, the Joker and more related stuff  decorating the streets of your town.

Paging Dr. Batman

Some cities are so bad, they need a constant Bat-sign shining in the sky all the time. Too bad he doesn’t really exist, except for in Slovakia.

Robin Standing Out

I’m not sure what kid prefers being Robin than Batman, but there are some that find the allure of Damian Wayne and those that have come before him a bit too much to resist.

Heads or Tails

Too bad Christopher Nolan killed off Harvey in the second film of his Dark Knight trilogy, because they really nailed the character, at least physically, unlike the foolish depiction in the 90’s.

Split City

I think Batman stories, regardless of the medium, are at their best when they show that Batman and the Joker are two sides of the same coin, and that Bruce Wayne is just as insane as the villains he chases down.

Catwoman Has His Back

I think a lot of people were worried about Catwoman being in the most recent Batman film, not to mention the castin. Not everyone agrees, but I think the character worked for most of the time.

Like a Batcave

I’m pretty sure that every day you have kids doing some scavenging in the area near their house, looking for a place to create their very own Bat-Cave.

When They’re Old

We’ve already explored Superhero life during their pension period of the lives, but this graffiti is much sadder.

Pick a Card

Which ever card you do choose eventually, it won’t turn out too well.

Batman From Your Nightmares

I’m pretty sure a lot of stoners, getting high in the alley where this amazing piece of art is, have had nightmares about the caped crusader chasing them.

Low-Tech Graffiti

Sometimes all you need is a pen and some sunlight. For more brilliant graffiti artworks of superheroes in the streets of the world, check this out.
