Google Maps The History Of Music

It’s been quite a journey since records became an object of mass consumption, and now we can get an analytical view on it as one of Google’s latest projects.

This might be one of the most fun projects Google has undertaken yet, especially if you’re a music geek: Google has undertaken the task of tracking music uploads, and create a bunch of Interactive maps depicting the history of modern music via the use of Play Music’s users’ libraries. The people behind it posted the results at Google’s Research Blog, where they let users navigate these maps and display in a visual way what a specific time period was like, or even the history of a genre. Who knows, maybe you could even discover a few bands here and there looking at the peaks! Be warned, though, you’ll spend a lot of time there…
