When I first had my eyes on this command key-caps arrangement, I thought some Eco-conscious designer has gathered all the discarded keyboard spares and arranged it in some scheme. But this art was not as shallow as my thought was. A high profile designer, Jean Shin, in partnership with the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia presented a set up consisting of hundreds of deconstructed key caps that are wrapped around gallery walls.
The visually compelling installation intends to a create a playful poetry by sequencing the command keys such as “control”, “pause”, “home”, “escape” and “end.” It throws an opportunity for the audience to come forth with various meanings and interpretations.
Jean Shin has won accolades for the ability of transforming mundane and discarded objects into far-fetched creations which leave lasting imprints as we previously seen with the Textile Keyboard. She is also known for having seen life through a unique prism of art and transforming life’s leftovers into something psychologically powerful.
I never thought the computer keys I remove my wrath on by hitting it hard could be made into intriguing stuff like this one. Check out the Ctrl Alt Delete Pendant and the Classic Mac keyboard skull T-shirt which are other creations that second my opinion.
