Awesome New Posters for Monsters University

It took Pixar and Disney 12 years, but the day of the sequel, or shall we say prequel, to Monsters, Inc. from 2001 is finally coming out, as Monsters University is slowly taking over the internet with more and more releases, be it traliers or posters for the upcoming film.

The new movie, coming out on June 21, 2013, will be the tales of Mike, Sulley and a few new characters during their university days, as they meet in college and are in the same fraternity while planning to become scarers at Monsters, Inc. The film also tells the tale of how the two began as rivals, only to become friends in the obvious happy ending.

Monsters University will be the 14th feature film created by Pixar, keeping the average of one a year, with Brave doing very well in 2012, bringing in $535,383,207 from the box office and getting a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is actually a weak score for a Pixar film.

John Goodman (Sulley), Billy Crystal (Mike) and Steve Buscemi (Randall) will all be reprising their voice-jobs from the previous film. The film was in plans since 2005. Following disagreements between then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner and Pixar founder and CEO Steve Jobs, Disney (who at the time owned the rights to make sequels to all of Pixar’s films up to Cars) announced that a sequel to Monsters, Inc. would be made by Circle 7 Animation.

However, Disney’s change of management in late 2005 (which saw Eisner replaced by his lieutenant Robert Iger) led to renewed negotiations with Pixar, and in early 2006 Disney announced that they had purchased the studio. The Disney-owned sequel rights were then transferred to Pixar, leading to the cancellation of Rob Muir and Bob Hilgenberg’s version of the film and the subsequent closure of Circle 7
