Xbox 360 + Slow Motion Explosion = Fun!

If you have ever played any sort of violent video game, you probably understand there is some pleasure to be derived fromn rampant destruction. In that vein, then, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that a bunch of people in Brooklyn decided it would be a great idea to buy 10 Xbox 360s and eight controllers for one sole purpose: complete and utter annihilation in the name of journalism. These Xbox 360 explosions are also provided in slow motion, so anyone who cares to can soak in the glory one moment at a time. If you’ve ever had a problem with your console and wanted to just take the torch to it, this video is for you.

According to photographer Dan Saelinger, he worked with J and M Special Effects in Brooklyn to collaborate in the 360 explosions. The photo shoot was actually commissioned by Fortunate Magazine. I guess lighting expensive things on fire has a certain appeal for the upper class, eh? I can’t wait to see the actual piece in the magazine, but I have to say that blowing up consoles as a profession sounds like a career path that I want to get into. If you’re curious, you can check out one of the explosions below. If you want all of the madness, including a timelapse video of one poor 360’s final moments, you can view them at Sealinger’s Blog.

Of course, it isn’t the first time that someone has taken the knife to a console in the name of art, journalism, or just plain fun! Plenty of those have been featured here on Walyou, such as this Xbox 360 Mod Car (I’d find this horribly distracting, for the record). There’s also this portable Xbox 360 Laptop mod, for when you just need to have your 360 on the go!
