Dr. Who is one of the most popular TV shows that are currently airing, and his TARDIS is quite possibly one of the most sold in terms of merchandizing. When I say that I don’t mean just mini replicas of the TARDIS, I mean things made with the TARDIS on it, or products that are TARDIS shaped.This is understandable considering this is a telephone booth looking device that can travel through space and time! This item is one of those products that are TARDIS shaped, but have an entirely different purpose than being a decorative piece.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with what a 4-port powered USB hub is, it is basically the USB equivalent to a power bar. The purpose of this TARDIS, instead of its usual marvels of traveling through space and time, is to function as a USB hub. Though that is not as impressive, it is still a cool thing to have, especially if you are a Dr. Who fan. The port is four and a half inches tall, and lets face it, who doesn’t like miniature versions of life sized things.
When you plug the USB into your computer, the top of the TARDIS lights up, and begins to create the very same sound that the real TARDIS would make when it is in use. This might get annoying after a while, but that’s not a problem because you have the option of switching the sound off. Logistically it’s not battery powered, and runs off the power of the computer, much like an iPod charger does.
This is definitely something to add to you collection of Dr. Who merchandise.
