Sega, released in 1985, brought 32 on-screen colors to gaming fanatics and the Sega Genesis came out four years later with 64 colors, but the ante was upped with the Sony Playstation that had 16.7 million colors came out.

This year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 have taken advantage of modern technology and feature over 16.7 billion colors, including color blind assist to aid those with color blindness.

All in all, the world of gaming has made fantastic progress in color and animation … and gamers are certainly reaping the benefits.
