VW Camper Van Tent

If you’re a child of the ’60s, or want to pretend that you were, and you like the outdoors as much as any true hippie does, then you’ll love these VW Camper Van tents.

This tent is a faithful replica of the iconic vans made by Volkswagen in the mid-’60s that became iconic among the original generation of flower children that showed up later in the decade where everything suddenly changed. You can still see these cruising the highways occasionally. (Psychedelic paint jobs and bumper stickers with peace and environmental slogans plastered all over the back are optional.)

You could probably sleep in one of those old vans as well as you could in a tent, but you would be spared the hassle of getting a real VW van if you don’t already have one and paying for fixing it when it inevitably breaks down. (I’m told that those old Volkswagens were pretty reliable and cheap back in their day. But parts for really old cars are apparently both expensive and hard to come by.)

If you’ve got £299 ($486 U.S), you can get yourself one of these neat tents and transport yourself back to the Woodstock era. It’s available in blue, red, and yellow and feature working side doors. (The door rolls up instead of sliding like on a real van.) There’s enough headroom to stand up inside, and there are two zip-separated rooms if you want some privacy. (The ’60s was the era of free love, after all).

This tent should be perfect for anyone who loves camping, people who remember the ’60s (though those who do might not have really been there), and people who love clever tent designs. It’s currently available for pre-order and is expected to ship in late August. If you do get one of these, don’t forget to wear flowers in your hair.

You’ll also enjoy our post on a small Volkswagen van that plays records, and a VW Bus 3D model.
