Bohemian Workbench Wooden NES Controller Coffee Table

People looking for geeky furniture who have recently inherited a few million dollars should really take a look at the following coffee table which doubles as a fully functional NES controller.

The coffee table in question was created by Bohemian Workbench, a custom design studio based in Venice Beach, California. This particular item is so geeky that, provided it falls in the right hands, I don’t know if it will be used more as a coffee table or as a NES controller. It should be noted that this does not work with classic Nintendo Entertainment Systems, but with the Wii console. The table is currently on sale on Etsy, where Bohemian Workbench is looking for the right owner.

Here is how the designer described the product: “Coffee (table) designed after the Nintendo controller from 1985. This functional model is made from premium grade curly maple, birdseye maple, African bubinga, and mahogany and is compatible with the Nintendo Wii. It features dovetail joinery and mid-century modern legs. Also included in a side mounted custom bison holster is a zapper, handmade from bubinga and maple. The zapper functions as a Wii controller while selecting the classic Nintendo on the Wii menu. The zapper also vibrates and has a speaker to replicate the feel and sound of the original Wii controller. The table functions wirelessly and the gun and mount can be easily removed if desired. A glass top and bubinga feet are included for use as table.”

As seen in the description, the NES controller coffee table is made from various types of exotic wood.

The only thing not mentioned in the above description is the price of the table, but you’ll have to keep reading, if you want to find that out. As you’ve probably guessed from the introduction of this post, the NES controller coffee table doesn’t come cheap and not everybody has deep-enough pockets to buy such an item.

The designer is willing to let go of this table for $7,200. As the casual geek most probably does not have this kind of money lying around, the NES controller coffee table will end-up in the home of some multi-millionaire who does not even appreciate the effort the designers and manufactuers have put into this. If, however, you happen to have the funds for such an exquisite piece of furniture, hurry up and claim it on Etsy. And while we’re at it, my bank account number is… Erm, sorry, I got carried away, a bit!
