Converse Japan Releases Super Mario Shoes

Converse, the company behind the age-old Chuck Taylors, has revealed a special-edition Super Mario Bros. version of their One Star shoes.

As if Converse brand shoes weren’t already the staple among gamers and geeks, Converse Japan has a new collaboration in the works. For gamers who want to proudly wear their favorite hobby on their sleeves (or feet, in this case), Converse is working together with Nintendo yet again, and has unveiled their new Super Mario Bros.-themed One Star shoes.

Although this isn’t the first time Converse has worked with Nintendo to produce Mario-themed shoes (they collaborated last year for Mario’s 25th anniversary), this is the first time their One Star line is receiving a special edition. These special edition sneakers, although just revealed, will not be made available until next month, and Converse has not disclosed any pricing details so far.

Further, since these must-have kicks are designed and created by the Japanese branch of the iconic company, as of now there has been no statement issued as to whether they will become available in the U.S. and other countries, or will only be sold in Japan.

As shown above, the Mario-themed One Stars will come in two colors, black and white, and feature a Mario sprite on each heel. Also, the cutout star (which gives the One Star its name) is stylized like an invincibility star from the Super Mario series – yellow with black eyes.

These awesome shoes will supposedly be available next month (just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, in case that’s turned into a gift-giving event by now), from Converse Japan, and we heard about them from our friends over at Geekologie.
