From Napster to SOPA, the war between content producers and online pirates is one for the ages – or, rather, the Digital Age. This infographic lays out the battlefield between the two main entities and their alliances.
The FBI and NIPRCC are the agencies in charge of regulating and policing the piracy of copyrighted content. They are funded, of course, by the Federal Government, which consists of Senators and Congressmen in the pockets of – or rather, having their pockets filled by – various associations protecting the content producers.
On the other side of this battle, you have the pirates – aka regular Internet users either unwilling or unable to shell out $1.29 for a song on iTunes or $15 to buy a DVD (you know, those thin, donut-like things we used to put into our computers?). We like to call ourselves things like “the 99%,” but we are aided by only a handful of facilitators and even fewer suppliers of pirated (illegally obtained) content.
So, where do you stand in this battle? And what do you think the ultimate outcome will be in the end?
