“Windows 10 is a new generation of Windows designed to empower you to do great things,” said Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Microsoft. “Windows 10 starts to deliver on our vision of more personal computing, defined by trust in how we protect and respect your personal information, mobility of the experience across your devices, and natural interactions with your Windows devices, including speech, touch, ink and holograms.”

This new Windows brings the much missed start menu back, to the joy of million of users around the web, and will allow them to easily find their files, apps, and favorites.

Microsoft promise that Windows 10 is fast, restarts fast, and helps our laptops batteries last longer. Besides, Windows 10 includes Windows Hello, Microsoft Passport and Windows Defender to protect against malware. On top of this, they’re committed to update constantly and for free for as long as this product’s life cycle lasts.

This new version of Windows has been optimized for all Windows devices and apps, with an interface fit for touch as well as mouse and keyboard. For this new update, the OS will include Cortana, the digital voice assistant (Microsoft’s Siri, of sorts), which learns the users’ preferences to quickly access information. Along with Windows Hello, it will be able to recognize users without them having to use a password to access the PC.

It will also include Microsoft Edge, the renewed Microsoft navigator that comes with a few new features. It has integrated ink, its built in for sharing, and optimized for reading. With Cortana integrated, Microsoft Edge can give results and content according to the interests and preferences of users.

There is also a new side of Office 2016, now optimized for touch screens and designed from the ground up to operate on Windows 10. These apps allow users to easily create and edit Word documents or PowerPoint presentations while making live annotations while they work. With the new touch controls on Excel, people can create or update spreadsheets without using a keyboard or mouse.

Windows 10 can also pair up with the Xbox One and all smartphones and tablets of the Lumia line, as long as they have some form of Surface. So keep it in mind, on July 29th, update your version of Windows to 10.
