Over 26 million pieces of luggage are lost each year in just North America. Many of those were sent to a wrong city, and some were stolen which can’t be fun.
This is probably one of the most annoying thing that can happen to you while traveling, losing your bags. Especially if the cause for it is the bag being sent to a different city. Sometimes the airline company can track it down but that’s not always the case, so using your own tracking device to know where your luggage is can be a great way to make sure that you don’t lose it, and if you do, you will know where it is and can get it back!
Thanks to the guys over at Trackdot, you can now track your bags using a phone app and a small yet smart device. All you need to do is place this traveling gadget in your bag and the Tarckdot will notify you once your bag has landed, and where it is. Plus, you’ll be able to track it once it’s on the luggage carousel so you won’t take someone else’s bag by mistake.
How does it work? Trakdot has a built-in GSM chip. It can find your bags’ location without using a lot of battery power. With Trakdot your luggage is constantly monitored using a cellular network to determine its city location. When you fly, the device is going to sleep short of speak and when you arriving at your destination, it wakes up and reports its new location. You can even set to get a text-message or an email to confirming that your luggage has arrived with you. The Trakdot app will work with all cellphone device and the device it self runs on regular AA batteries.
Trakdot Luggage will be available to purchase in March 2013.
