If you’re a fan of the three original Star Wars movies (AKA episodes 4-6), you’ll remember the part of episode five, “The Empire Strikes Back” when Han Solo is frozen in Carbonite by Boba Fett, for ultimate delivery to Jabba the Hutt.
It may seem a little morbid, but you can have your own carbon-copy of the carbonite frozen Solo for your very own living room. This piece of unique furniture was crafted by the UK company R9 who seem to be all about recreating iconic sci-fi sculptures and memorabilia. This replica was painstakingly sculpted to 1:1 scale. How did they do it? Those chaps over there at R9 studied high-res stills from the film and created the scale mold from scratch. The final piece combines aluminum, tempered glass, and machined columns.
The “Carbon Freeze” coffee table is a lot on the nerdy side, I’m not going to lie, but this coffee table is for the true Alpha Nerd. Imagine kicking back and propping your feet up on Han Solo’s frozen face. Now, love him or hate him, there’s something loving about that gesture. Heck, you might even be able to place your popcorn bowl so that it looks like Solo’s holding it up for you.
Just remember, if there’s anything we all learned from the little debacle that happened in Cloud City, it’s to: 1) never trust Lando, 2) avoid Boba Fett, and 3) don’t piss of Jabba.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like this piece is for sale. To all appearances, this is a one-of-a-kind piece . However, if you’re interested in other Han Solo trapped in carbonite paraphernalia, you might check out this Walyou review of different homages to the frozen Solo. Either way, this table is a pretty outstanding homage to The Empire Strikes Back. No matter whether you side more with the Empire or more with the Alliance, it’d be nice to impress your friends and family members with this unique replica. Although this piece doesn’t appear to be for sale, you may be able to find similar products at various locations on the Interwebs. Or, you could simply capture your own Solo and freeze him in a little carbonite.
