Ferrari Formula Rossa Roller Coaster: 0-60 MPH in 2 Seconds

So, you have always wanted to sit in a Ferrari and speed up on the tracks but you never could because unfortunately not all of us get the chance to do that. So for such individuals Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Stefano Domenicali have together unveiled the Formula Rossa roller coaster at the Catalunya Circuit during the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix.

Isn’t that amusing? I mean imagine all of us who have always wanted to take a ride in the Ferrari now get the chance to do so. On the other hand, those of you who have always feared the roller coaster rides, they have become a nightmare now!

This roller coaster has been actually designed to stimulate the F1 driving experience. Yup the Formula Rossa is now the world’s fastest ever roller coaster which can take you on a ride at the speed of 240 km/h. The coaster can accommodate 16 passengers at one time on four cars and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in nearly 2 seconds. It can climb up to the height of 52 meters in this time frame.

Now here is the best part – the course is around 2.07 km which in miles is around 1.30 miles and it features a series of sharp turns and sudden drops which would actually make you feel as if you are on the tracks in a Ferrari!

The General Manager of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Claus Frimand, says that the roller coaster is actually aimed to provide people real-time driving experience of what a Formula One driver can face. The extreme speed will seriously make you feel as if you are about to fly up high in the air but actually you are quite secured so you won’t need to worry about it at all.

The Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will open on October 28 this year (2010) and will have more than 20 attractions such as the G-force experience, the GT roller coaster and of course the Flume ride.

I am currently excited to see how it would go and how much people would enjoy it. Let’s see whether this one is a successful theme park or just another one!
