The release of the upcoming Skyfall is a chance to celebrate not only the 23rd film in the James Bond franchise or Daniel Craig’s third appearance as the title character, but the 50th anniversary of the release of the first film in the Bond franchise, Dr. No.
There have been six Bond’s over these 50 years – Sean Connery, the first and probably the most memorable of them all, playing in six films; George Lazenby, the youngest Bond ever (30) and the only one who played in just one film; Roger Moore, who acted in 7 Bond films, more than anyone else; Timothy Dalton who acted in the two late 80’s movies; Pierce Brosnan, part of the revive of the character after a 5 year hiatus in 1995; And now Daniel Craig, who took the job in 2006 with Casino Royale.
But Bond is much more than the character. It’s M, and Q (not recently), and the villains, the cocktails, the gadgets, the cars, the weapons, and maybe most importantly for some part of the fandom, the women.
