Olympics 2012: London Aquatic Center Recreated in Lego

If you didn’t have enough reading about Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte and their exploits at the pools in London, you might want to take a look at this Lego model of London Aquatics Centre.

This detailed model features everything that can be found at the Olympic pool designed for the athletes in London.

Gary Davis used thousands of Lego blocks to construct this model and he meant to celebrate the start of 2012 Olympic Games in his own way.

The model is currently on display at the Stratford LEGO store and if you are a fan of the games, you could even purchase really cool GB Olympics Mini-figures made in Lego as well. After a controversial beginning that saw Mitt Romney making off-colored remarks about London’s preparedness, the Olympics finally took off rather successfully. You might also read about how London Gold Medals are actually made of silver.

The last Olympics were held in Beijing, China in 2008. 4 years seem to have passed very quickly. It would be really nice to have an official Lego Olympic set that features not only the aquatic centre but also other infrastructure dedicated to other games. If you are feeling adventurous enough, you might want to try and build your own models n Lego.
