My Little Pony Transformed Into Geek-Icon Toys

Somehow, someway, My Little Pony, a toy introduced to the public by the mighty Hasbro back in 1981 is still doing rather well. But despite being absolutely useless in any kind of form or version, using the pony toys as a base for something much cooler, lets say superhero customized dolls seems to work.

Finnish artist Mari Kasurinen transformed the little toys into musical icons (Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Elvis) and fictional characters like some of your favorite characters from Star Trek and Star Wars, with the creations selling at $250.

I was looking for a way to express myself concerning today’s materialism and individualism.  was very interested in the whole customization phenomenon; how you can get anything done just for you… I tried Barbies, Action Mans, He-Man dolls, tin soldiers, plastic animals… They didn’t fit. Then I remembered that frustratingly pink My Little Pony. It was perfect!
