Lord of the Rings has to be one of the most cult-ish epic ever written by University of Oxford professor J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to The Hobbit, but eventually became a large body of work in itself.
The epic became so popular that it has been recreated in movies and video games several times over. This time around, a Lego enthusiast has created one of the fictitious parts of the ‘Middle Earth’ envisioned by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Garrisons of Moria, or the just known as Moria is an enormous underground complex which consists of tunnels, mines, huge halls, mansions and even chambers.
It runs under and through the ‘Misty Mountains’. Gerry Burrows has created the Garrison of Moria in Lego, brick by brick. It might have been a little too much for us to even imagine what Moria would have looked like if we read The Lord of the Rings in books, but he has actually made it possible for us to walk through the Garrison of Moria by building it ‘life size’.
He has used up the entire space of an enormous 540-square foot room. What is most impressive about this guy is that he did not use schematics on paper or computer even once in order to build this. He actually has shocked people by saying that it is still growing and he will continue to add to Moria by building several other intricate parts. At the moment, the Lego Garrison of Moria measures 28 feet long, and has a depth of 24 and 59 inches.
He has used more than 250,000 Lego building blocks and Gerry will eventually build the fleet of custom ships and a bridge as well. This ambitious Lego enthusiast sets an example for other Lego artists, who can be inspired to recreate other scenes from the Lord of the Rings.
