Angry Birds Board Game in the Real World [CES 2011]

Well, I figured it was only a matter of time. The Angry Birds app store physics game that has become monumentally popular this year will now officially become a board game from Mattel. If you’re wondering how exactly that will translate into the real world well..so am I. Thankfully, there is a handy dandy video from CES 2011 with a full demonstration!

You’ll immediately recognize most of your favorie characters from the Angry Birds game including the iconic angry red bird. Noticeably absent, though, are the little blue birds that split into three smaller versions of themselves. This makes sense when you think about it, as to try and make a bird you can toss and then split would be a huge pain here in the real world. Your little bird slingshot is still ready to go, though. On the surface it looks like it’d be a fun game for awhile, although I’d guess it won’t have the longetivity of the electronic version. There’s just a lot more administrative work to be done, such as constantly setting up the piggies and buildings. Ever play Weapons and Warriors? Yeah, it’d be like that.

If you’re in the market for other Angry Birds fun, though, we have you covered. Personally, I would love to build something like this delicious Angry Birds gingerbread house. Sure, it would be a whole lot of work, but it would be good fun trying to knock it down with some candy angry bird pieces. Basically it would boil down to an edible version of the board game, and in the end everyone’s happy and full of sweets. You also can’t go wrong with this early 90’s Angry Birds spoof since, let’s face it, the gameplay seems like it would really belong in that era. The title screens and other various images are really well done, too.
