Now is the time when the entire way of gaming is going to change. We will no longer need a Mouse or computer keyboard in order to game. All we are going to need is our brain (which I guess all have) and the Emotiv EPOC Headset for a brain and computer gaming experience.
The EPOC detects and processes real time brain activity patterns by detecting the voltage changes in the brain caused by the firing of neurons. It uses a specialized device for this purpose and picks up over 30 different expressions, emotions and actions in aggregate.
The Emotiv EPOC headset is the first Brain Computer Interface (BCI) device for the gaming. This means that the sci-fi scenarios depicted in movies, like The Matrix, are going to become realities in the near future.
When asked about this latest device, the President and co-founder of Emotiv Systems, Tan Le, said, “Being able to control a computer with your mind is the ultimate quest of human-machine interaction. When integrated into games, virtual worlds and other simulated environments, this technology will have a profound impact on the user’s experience.” This is just the beginning of a new era. With a technology like this, a user’s interactions with computer, robots or machines on the whole will more closely mimic the interactions with other humans.
