USI, one of the leading companies manufacturing the Mobile Internet Devices (MID), has revealed some details of the all new USI MID-160 tablet-style MID. The USI MID-160 is a super-thin, Linux-based mobile Internet device (MID) that offers GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, and either HSPA or WiMAX. The device has a 5-inch large touchscreen having a resolution of 800×480 with 167,000 colors, 0.6-inch thick, unfortunately lacks a keyboard but is based on the Intel’s Atom Z5-series Processor.
The USI MID-160 is a good example of USI’s expertise in miniaturization technologies and system integration and will make it possible to enable consumers to carry the full Internet in their pockets. The device comes with 8GB Solid State Disk (SSD) and a microphone with instant communication Software pre-installed. Gilbert Wei, President of USI while speaking of the device said, “In order to make the MID thin and light, MID-160 uses an in-house small footprint WiMAX SiP (system in package), a dual-band WiFi/WiMAX module, and a 3G module from Option — all packaged into a device featuring a customized ultra-thin 5-inch panel display.”
The users of the new USI MID-160 Internet device can enjoy a PC-like Internet experience including browsing the Internet with Flash and the latest web technologies.
