Finally the new PS3 Slim announcement has been made official, and many Playstation 3 fans or those that haven’t got their hands on the console yet should be happy.

The new Playstation 3 Slim presents the new PS3 as a slimmer and more compact game console but still packing the same features, options and technical specs, including built-in Wi-Fi and Blu-ray player, Free PlayStation Network membership and it also plays DVDs and CDs.
In addition, this new console from Playstation has announced a new and way more attractive price tag of only $299, which will surely bring many new individuals to flock to Sony. For those that size doesn’t matter, it has also been mentioned by Sony that the current “fatter” consoles will also have a price drop until the official launch of the new PS3 Slim which will be September 1st, 2009.
As in actual difference in size and weight, the upcoming PS3 Slim will be nearly 33 percent smaller and 36 percent lighter, providing for a much more attractive console, which could make it easier to move from one friend’s house to another. Furthermore, the 80Gb hard drive is upgraded to a whooping 120Gb, for those who needs such mass storage on their Playstation 3 unit.
It has been a busy year for Sony, especially with the PSP Go announcement not long ago. We can hope their announcement and deliveries will provide what the Playstation fans want.
So now that the new PS3 Slim is coming out so soon, will you go for the older version with the new lower price tag or wait just a little bit longer for the Slim?
