If the Iron Man 2 advertisements are any indication, there simply isn’t a limit to the amount of merchandising you can do for a popular comic/movie series (See this Iron Man cologne for a perfect example). Still, these Superhero Headphones display some of your favorite childhood heroes in style, and at a price that doesn’t make you cringe, either. As far as I can tell they don’t actually provide super sound, but they get the job done!
The headphones are a way of celebrating Marvel Comics’ 70th anniversary along with another opportunity to line their pockets with a fresh inflow of cash…kind of like the amazing Superhero Computer Keyboards. Each set features it’s own coloration scheme and a prominent display of your hero of choice like the recently popular Iron Man (I liked him before he was in the movies!).
In terms of specs I’m no sound junkie but they do sound solid with 40mm Power Drivers and 100mW Max Input Power and 32 ohms Impedance (what?). They also come with a respectably long 47″ cord. There’s nothing I hate more than standing up and getting snagged on my frustratingly short headphones. I’ve broken more than one set in this manner, and if it were up to me they’d be a mile long as a standard in the headphones industry. Until that happens I will settle for 47″ however, which should be enough length to get around while tethered to your PC or device of choice.
One gripe I do have is that they don’t have full headsets with a mic, I mean I don’t think the average buyer is going to take these bulky badboys out for a jog, so why not thrown on a microphone? Even Superheroes use Ventrillo sometimes, right? If you’re still on the fence they also come with a 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed (be sure to read the fine print on the return policy just to be safe). If you’re thinking about how your mother would love a Punisher themed headphone set, you can also purchase them gift wrapped and ready to deliver for gifty goodness. Just in time for mother’s day! The best part, they are only $39.99 each.
