People of the United Nations of America, rejoice, because from now on, you won’t be needing an invitation to join Google Voice; a web application that takes telephony into an all new dimension.
Launched about a year ago, like Orkut – Google’s social networking portal – even Voice was in its beta stages and thus, it provided membership to you only if you were invited to it by a preceding member. Now, that you won’t be needing an invitation anymore, you are exposed to a whole lotta cool features which include having a single virtual number for all your phone numbers, free calls in U.S. and Canada, free local and international SMS, low call rates for international call – as low as $0.02 per minute – and the list goes on and on.
But, alas! This service is currently open only to the residents of the United States of America. Other countries will have to wait for sometime, before Google changes the way you look at telephony.
