The fulling social media site, Digg, is apparently trying to take a new direction. After an unflattering launch of the “New Digg” last year, it seems that the social media platform is trying to conquer once again its place on the web with a new take and build a new Google Reader.
According to Digg’s blog, “Like many of you, we were dismayed to learn that Google will be shutting down its much-loved, if under-appreciated, Google Reader on July 1st. We’ve been planning to build a reader in the second half of 2013, one that, like Digg, makes the Internet a more approachable and digestible place. After Google’s announcement, we’re moving the project to the top of our priority list. We’re going to build a reader, starting today”.
To be honest I do hope that Digg will be able to build a good and solid platform to help us readers explore the web more easily and efficiently. Only time will tell if this new idea by Digg is going to make a different or just a quick way to attract more users. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
