Talk about a one-of-a-kind plushie! This is the first toy ever created in space, a dinosaur plushie hailing from the International Space Station.
Neil Armostrong might have been the first human to walk on the moon, Yuri Gagarin the first one on space and that’s all good, but it was Karen Nyberg who created the first toy outside of planet Earth. She used scrap supplies on board of the International Space Station, and created this dinosaur for her son on Sunday, September 22, 2013.
The outside is all “Velcro-like fabric that lines the Russian food containers [that are] found here on the International Space Station,” Nyberg explained, and “It is lightly stuffed with scraps from a used T-shirt”.
