If you follow College Football, you know Thanksgiving goes along with Rivalry week. Rivals are only good and evil in the eyes of the opposing fan bases, if at all. For those who dive into comic books, fantasy shows and such, it’s a completely different story.
Superman vs Lex Luthor
Superman has a long and famous list of villains, including Bizzaro, Braniac, Darkseid and General Zod, but none have made more of an evil impression than the mere human but genius and diabolical Lex Luthor. Dan Scott has some brilliant art work of DC Comics characters, including this Man of Steel going up against a suited up Lex.
Batman vs The Joker
Thanks to Christopher Nolan’s movie, The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger’s mesmerizing performance, people were reminded of who is the most awesome villain around.
Quite of few versions of the comic books over the years, most notably The Killing Joke, have tried to show the parallel lines between Batman and the Joker, as to how Batman’s own insanity keeps him able to face psychotic villains.
Spider Man vs Venom
Venom might not be Peter Parker’s most famous nemesis, with the terrible cinematic adaptation of the character taking most of the blame. Still, Venom is pretty much everything Spider-Man is, just better.
Thor vs Loki
The character of Thor has been through quite a roller coaster ride of popularity along the years, enjoying a recent bloom in the comics and the cinema in recent times. It seems Loki has been chosen not only as his greatest adversary, but also the one to be a thorn in the Avengers’ side in the upcoming 2012 movie.
Superheroes aren’t the only people on earth (or in fiction) to have enemies. Fantasy legends have had their fair share of bad guys to face. The greatest tale of light and darkness, good and evil, The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit, is filled with such encounters.
Gandalf vs Balrog
“… Fly, you fools… ”
Bilbo vs The Dragon Smaug
Smaug is the best example of when rich folk that have more than they can enjoy lose something they have long had but never before used or wanted. How can you not hate him? Maybe Gollum is a better choice for Bilbo’s Great Villain?
Luke vs Darth Vader
Yeah, Vader become decent in the end. He’ll always be a villain to me.
Sherlock Holmes vs Moriarty
We don’t have to be serious ALL the time.
