Ever wonder what Bible stories would be like if everyone was made of LEGO? If that’s the case, The Brick Bible is probably just what you’re looking for.
The Brick Bible is a 272 page comic book style retelling of some of the world’s most well known myths and stories, made using thousands of LEGO pieces and a good serving of tongue-in-cheek humour.
According to our source, Brendan Powell Smith, the man behind The Brick Bible has spent the better part of the past decade recreating almost 5000 scenes from the Bible out of LEGO bricks.
The book is based off the author’s website, The Brick Testament, where he painstakingly recreated almost every scene from the Bible, though never without a few jokes here and there. What makes these stories great to read is the author’s own interpretation and spin on the stories.
Take for example his chapter on Samson, the legendary strongman. With a title like “Samson Commits Arson” you know you’re going to be in for a fun ride.
Luckily, unlike most texts that deal with religion, the author doesn’t have an agenda. As a proclaimed Atheist, Smith isn’t trying to attack or justify the stories he’s dealing with; he just wants to poke fun at stories that almost everyone in the Western world, whether they’re religious or not, has heard before.
The humour is cheeky and fun, so unless someone is really tightly wound, it’s not likely to offend anyone.
Some of the highlights include the story of Moses leading the Israelites out into the Exodus, parting enourmous waves made out of blue LEGO bricks, and the rather impressive artwork found in the section on Genesis where God creates the world out of nothing.
