The streets of Chicago become a life-sized Monopoly board, adding a little bit of humor to public spaces. Now if only the Community Cards were real and you could win $20 in a bank error!
Who doesn’t remember hours sitting around a table with friends playing Monopoly? I know I used to fight to be the car. Everyone wants to buy the expensive properties and start building on them. One wrong move and you could wind up in jail. Well, now the game of Monopoly is being taken to the streets…literally.
Passersby in Logan Square in Chicago are now able to enjoy a more life size game of Monopoly with inspired sculptures throughout the area. An artist by the name of Bored is the mastermind behind these sculptures. While not much is known about this artist (or group of artists), one thing is for sure – it’s pretty awesome street decoration!
Bored, who looks to keep the public entertained, said:
“The goal of this entire project has been to present something different than a stencil painted on the ground or a poster pasted to a wall. Something 3-dimensional that can be picked up, beaten down, kicked, yanked, grabbed, and broken. And if someone ever put forth the effort to remove it, like a weed it will always grow back. And if left alone it will evolve into something different.”
Now who wants to play Monopoly with me? You can be the banker (I’m no good with numbers)!
