I’ve always been a big fan of Mr. T for reasons I can’t quite explain. From his original cheesy role in the A-team to his role in the Rocky series, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that someone has taken his name very literally in this Mr. Tea creation, which displays the eighties icon in an actual tea glass complete with faux gold jewlery and and gold spoon.
This was actually a commissioned piece of art done by the UK artist Matt Jones and is baed on one of the toys which be purchased through the Lunartik shop. I mean really, who wouldn’t want their very own Mr. Tea staring at them from the tea glass when they come into work everyday? He should be equipped with an electronic voice too that says all the clever Mr. T quips from over the years. I mean you could go with the classic “I pity the fool!” all the way to his more recent role in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. “You see this contact lens? This contact lens represents you! And my eye represents my eye! I’ve got my *eye* on you!” You would also need to throw in some sort of reference to a night elf mohawk, given his recent campaign for Blizzard’s blockbuster MMO World of Warcraft. This needs to happen.
Of course I wonder how the Mr. T man would feel about a cute more cuddly version of himself being placed into a decorative tea glass. I guess any publicity is good publicity, right? Besides it’s a commissioned piece, so don’t expect legions of Mr. Tea cups to start multiplying across nerdy office cubes across the country. Not that I’d think about putting something like that on my desk here at home…yeah who am I fooling I would love one. Of course as we’ve seen with this Vinyl Lunartik example the possibilities for one of these really is endless. BRB while I sign up for a Master Chief likeness in a tea cup.
For another cute presentations of Mr T, check out the Mr T Hoodie which is definitely for major fans.
