Collector, customizer and soldier Rupert Valero has created some awesome action figures from various recycled material while stationed in Afghanistan.
On location at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wilson in Khandahar, Afghanistan, Private First Class Rupert Valero started making the various action figures in order to feed a hobby and stay sane. He explains in his interview with Another Limited rebellion that recyclable resources, such as bottle caps, are easy to come by since many must remain hydrated throughout their time. Thus, there is plenty of materials for an engineer to work with.
As in others’ opinions on the recycled action figures, many have respected him for such creations and the creative ways to remain sane. Moreover, with toys, it was also an easy way to interact with locals – as he says, “toys are universal.”
We can see with the many images that Rupert definitely proves some amazing creativity and continues to vary the action figures, material and presentation of his army of robots. Being able to make such creations from recycled material during such stressful, hot and troubling times is definitely amazing. We must take our hat off in respect.
