As the season when kids crave for sweets is very close and the gingerbread house from the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale is so yesterday, you should take a look at this gingerbread geodesic dome made by Scout Regalia.
Let’s face it, the design of gingerbread houses has not really evolved much and people tend to grow bored at some point. Luckily, this gingerbread geodesic dome is able to breathe some new life into this department. The geeks out there will surely be relieved that the old designs have been abandoned in the favor of a more sci-fi(ish) one.
The kit seen in the above video can actually be purchased on the Scout Regalia website for $25 plus shipping. Besides the kit, Scout Regalia also provides several recipes for gingerbread and icings that will certainly come in handy for the more inexperienced cooks out there. The kit seems to be made from cardboard, so it could be reproduced by people who do not want to spend that kind of money and who have a lot of spare time on their hands.
The video does not show only the kit, but also how gingerbread is baked and cut into hexagons, all this on a more modern version of Gershon Kingsley’s Popcorn, signed by Hot Butter. Icing is used for sticking the hexagons to the cardboard geodesic dome, as well as for filling the space between the hexagons. Apart from that, various types of small candies are used for decoration. the mushrooms and the campfire, as well as all the other elements that the surrounding environment is made of are edible, to the satisfaction of the kids or adults who will receive this as a gift. With all these sweets in the same picture, a lot of Hansel and Gretel look-a-likes will be attracted not only by the design, but also by the smell and taste of this done.
