Notification Control Declutters Your Email Inbox

No matter how many emails you receive daily, they always seem too many. Notification Control is a service that will help you set things straight, once and for all.
Notification Control is a website  created by Ben Lang and Tim Kendall  that promises to solve the problem in a minute. Since it offers direct links to the email notifications pages of the most popular websites, I tend to believe it should not take longer than that.

At the moment, only the following services are listed on the website:

  • Dribbble
  • eBay
  • Facebook
  • Forrst
  • Foursquare
  • Google+
  • LinkedIn
  • Meetup
  • Pinterest
  • Tumbler
  • Twitter
  • YouTube

This may not look like much, but people who visit Notification Control and discover that one of their favorite websites is not listed, are able to suggest it to the creators of the service. After clicking on one of the listed websites, a new browser tab opens and the user is taken directly to the page where the email notifications can be changed, provided that he is logged in on that website. If not, they will be taken to the login page of the website and then to the email notification settings page, where they can make the desired changes.

To keep track of the changes that have been made on each website, the logos and the name of the sites are grayed out, as seen in the above picture. The text is also struckthrough, to eliminate any confusion as to which settings were changed. Hopefully, Notification Control will grow to include many more websites that tend to annoy typical users who do not change the default email notification settings as soon as they register. Having all of these websites in one place is certainly convenient. The simple layout of Notification Control is very neat and there will undoubtedly be a lot of people who will like it.

Personally, I am a big fan of simply designed websites that are really good at doing one thing and one thing only. Down For Everyone or Just Me, What’s My IP and Speedtest.net are some of the examples that come to mind, but there are numerous others with various purposes.
