Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first sprung, in a small way, into our lives, back in 1984, via comic books that began as some sort of parody for more popular characters at the time (Daredevil for example). Soon it was published by Mirage, and then came the 1987 animated show. You can guess what happened from there.
Four feature films, with only the first one being an actual hit, at the time achieving the status of most successful independent film of all time. The first animated show, which brilliantly incorporated the greatest villain of all time, Krang, ran for nine years. In the midst of all that, two more films – TMNT II (The secret of the ooze) and TMNT III came out, not really ringing anyone’s bells.
I guess toys and animated shows were enough. A second animated series began in 2003, running for six years, creating enough interest to deliver a fourth feature film, simply called TMNT. Again, not too much of a hit, and the CGI, in my opinion, was a bit disappointing.
Here are the best fan-art depictions of the gang – Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo, fighting the foot clan and Shredder.
Raphael seems to love getting into these fight all by himself.
Don’t worry, this isn’t some spin-off. Just a very cool idea someone had.
Like with everything in life, so do the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get the Star Wars treatment, getting Lightsabers instead of those dull swords.
This one was so good that people actually thought it was a poster design for one of the movies.
Blurry makes it even better, in my opinion.
