Apple have introduced the best iPod Touch yet. It has a new iSight rear camera capable of 8 megapixel pictures, and a new FaceTime front camera, now in HD. These new features in the camera department allows the possibility to toy with options like slow motion or “burst mode”, which weren’t possible in older models. When it comes to hardware, if features Apple’s new A8 chip which improves graphical capabilities up to ten times, achieving a better performance when it comes to gaming. Just like the iPhone, the iPhone Touch features the improved Retina screen, in this case in 4 inches. It has built in Apple Music support, where users can subscribe and enjoy music selected by experts or by themselves. They will also be able to listen to the radio Beats 1 and comment and interact with musicians through the very same platform. iPod Touch users will get a free 3 month trial for Apple Music, after which they will have to pay $9,99 per month for a single account, or a family account for up to 6 members at $14,99 per month.
Greg Joswiak, vApple’s vice president of iPhone, iPod and iOS Product Marketing was quoted saying “iPod touch gives customers around the world access to Apple Music, the App Store and iOS, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, starting at just $199. With big advancements like the A8 chip and the 8 megapixel iSight camera, customers can experience next-level gameplay, take even more beautiful photos and enjoy their favorite music, TV shows and movies.”
The App Store on the iPod Touch will be available in over 155 countries and offers the users access to some 1,5 million apps in 24 categories. It also has a rich library of games that use the whole power of these new devices, plus has access to iTunes, hence the biggest music catalog in the world. It uses iOS 8 (probably 9 once it comes out) and a colection of pre-installed Apple apps such as iMessage to send text and video via WiFi, Photos to retouch pictures, or Health to stay in shape.
The new iPod Touch will be priced at $199 for the 16 GB version, $249 for 32 GB and $299 for the 64 GB one, which will be available at Apple stores and select authorized distributors. Also, for the first time there will be an 128 GB model at $399, but it will only be available at Apple Retail Stores and the Apple Online Store. The entire iPod family will be available in grey, silver, gold, pink and blue.
