Notebooks, in general, and ultrabooks, in particular, have limited expandability options, and that’s exactly why you’ll find all sorts of USB hubs and adapters in the bag of a notebook owner.
The Baseprø laptop workstation comes to solve all those problems by providing a complete solution for maximum productivity while on the go. Baseprø is more than just a USB 3.0 that you can take with you when you need to plug more peripherals or USB flash drives to your notebook. First of all, Baseprø acts as a stand that keeps the laptop inclined and a bit higher than when placed on a flat surface. That helps keeping the display at eye-level, not to mention that it makes it easier to type on the keyboard. Two rubber strips will keep the notebook secure and prevent it from sliding.
Having an aluminum (one of the metals preferred by manufacturers for heat dissipation) surface, the Baseprø laptop dock will keep the notebook cool. And then there are the expandability options. Baseprø comes with 4 USB 3.0 ports, in case your laptop doesn’t have enough of them. On top of that, you can expand the available storage by buying the dock with pre-installed hard drives or you can buy some and install them yourself.
Here is how the manufacturer described their product on Indiegogo:
“Connect all your devices to BasePrø, then take your laptop on the go without a complicated disconnect/reconnect. With 4 additional USB 3.0 ports, BasePrø allows you a maximum signaling rate of 5 gigabits per second (10x faster than USB 2.0) making it built to last for next few years.
The BasePrø Laptop Workstations comes with 2 Hard Drive options: Pre-Installed Plug’n Play BasePrø comes stocked with a hassle free hard drive pre-installed. You have the option to choose the choice of memory that fits your work load.”
The developers of this notebook dock are hoping to raise $50K by December 13, and should the project reach its funding goal, anyone who pledged $69 or more will get their Basepro dock. The manufacturer failed to mention a delivery date, so these details will probably be discussed in the event of a successful campaign.
