First, there was Lego. Then, the inventors of “The Simpsons” decided, Hey let’s make another animated series devoted to Science Fiction, based in New York City. Meet “Futurama”. And now, there’s Futurama’s New York in the form of a Lego City! That’s right. “Futurama”, the show which follows the life of a pizza delivery boy in the late 20th century, living in everybody’s favorite city has been recreated in the form of Lego!
Drawing inspiration from the television series, an artist Matt De Lanoy, created this mini city in Lego, spent two whole years on this project and even had it named “The World of Tomorrow”. Now, this version of New York City is going to knock your socks off because like the television show, which portrays New York City as a city that has been built over the ruins of the present day New York City and has a futuristic view of what our world will become, The Lego version reflects exactly this. Almost every part of the city is included like the Robot Arms Apartment where Bender and Fry live, Planet Express, its ship, Madison Cube Garden, Applied Cryogenics, Momcorp HQ: the Head Museum, the sewers where the mutants live and more! Only if the Lego ATM could fit in here, would have been amazing.
Measuring at a whopping 5ft by 7ft, its attention to detail is incredible and includes characters from the show that have custom decals applied to them and even lights have been installed so, it lights up at night! Lego just cannot get any better than this! For otehr cool such art, check out the Big Lebowski Lego Art and the Star Wars Lego Diorama.
