Recycle Art: Bottle Cap Video Game Characters

Those bottle caps from beer bottles or soda bottles no longer need to go in the trash. For those that have a knack for the arts and time on their hands, these designs might give you some inspiration.

These seven different designers came up with the same idea: use leftover bottle caps to create a work of art. Of course, it’s easier said than done. First, there needs to be a design to map out the layout as well as the amount of needed bottle caps. For those looking for a challenge, using only the color scheme of the various bottle tops could lead to some frustration and the drinking of not so great beer. This might take a little research as different bottle caps are different colors. For example, Mario requires a lot of Budweiser and Bud Light bottle tops while Link requires a lot of Heineken tops. On the other hand, if keeping the original color and designs don’t matter, the caps can always be painted, as illustrated by the Princess Peach design.

What makes the bottle cap designs great is that it combines two fun things: video games and beer drinking. Even for those that don’t like bottled beer or soda, friends can certainly be recruited to help out with the project. If you have any bartender friends, depending on where they work, you might be able to complete your project in one night. Of course, they might ask for a piece of bottle cap artwork as well.

One of the great things about this project is that it is relatively easy, cheap (aside from the cost of beer) and environmentally friendly. Not only will you create fun art for your walls you will also help prevent hundreds of non-biodegradable waste from landfills.
