Halloween is just around the corner, so we here at Walyou have collected some of the best Couples Halloween Ideas so you can enjoy with your loved ones!
We are getting spookily close to Halloween, and everybody knows this means costumes, parties, and the one time of the year where we get to geek out and dress up as our favorite characters while it’s still socially acceptable, unless you’re a cosplay god or godess, which means you get to do it all year long. Considering that this season brings so much joy and fun for everyone we went ahead and compiled a list of ideas for costumes for couples so you and your loved one (or sibling, or friend, or potential hookup, you name it) can dress up together. Most of these ideas are meant for a male-female couple, but if you think about it, you can come up with your own personal touch for each of them – remember, the most important thing is to have fun.
Star Wars Couples Halloween Costumes
Han Solo & Princess Leia Costumes
If there’s ever been a power couple in the Star Wars universe, those are Han Solo and princess Leia – even if she made out with her brother once. With the characters coming back for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, now is the perfect time to take one final look at the past and remember all that was.
Rey & Kilo Ren Star Wars Costume
The newcomers to the Star Wars saga and future fan favorites also need a spot, so here’s Rey and Kilo Ren – even if they are technically fighting against each other in the new movies. It’s not always about 6the classics! Be sure to wear them before they become the hottest costume next year for special hipster points.
Boba Fett & Stormtrooper
For those of you who feel more comfortable on the Empire end of the discussion for the galactic future but feel like dressing up as Darth Vader has been done too much, here’s a Stormtrooper and Boba Fett. Good on your for expanding your horizons!
Luke & Leia Skywalker
This is a perfect set for brother and sister. Luke & Leia with the outfits worn in the original film, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Scratch that, these are great party costumes for anyone.
Super Hero Couples Halloween Costumes
Avengers Costumes
This has been a fantastic year for Marvel movies, whether you’re kid or a grown up. If you’d like to show up at a Halloween party looking like the geekiest couple, Avengers are the way to go. The ladies won’t have much of a choice and will most likely default to Black Widow costumes with an option to go as Scarlet Witch, but the guys will get more choices with the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hawk Eye, and so on. There’s like a 8:2 male to female ratio in that group anyways, so guys better appreciate the options.
Joker & Harley Quinn Halloween costumes
Getting cheap costumes is all fine and good, but not really viable once you find an idea that really works, and nothing works quite as well as going as the most iconic evildoers in comic book history! With Suicide Squad hitting theaters next year, now is the perfect time show up as Harley Quinn & The Joker before it becomes everyone’s costume for next year – because you KNOW that movie is going to be a hit.
Batman & Catwoman
Enough already with couples that attend parties as Batman & Batgirl, they were never a couple! After the end of Nolan’s Batman trilogy, there’s been an influx of well made, good Batman costumes for the guys and Catwoman costumes for the gals, and frankly, we’re glad. They’re a fantastic couple of kinda opposites but not so much, so we’re happy whenever geeky couples show them appreciation.
Male & female Green Lantern
You know how the term “women in refrigerators” came to be from the Green Lantern comics? Well nevermind about that. Now both girls and guys get to enjoy the powers of the Green Lantern corps.
Cyclops & Phoenix costumes (X-men)
The X-men have kind of fallen out of grace with popular culture (we really miss the 90s cartoon), especially when compared to the Avengers who now get the spotlight at most Marvel events. Still, they’re so full of iconic and beloved couples that we can’t help but mention some of them. For those couples that have been together for years we recommend going as Cyclops and Marvel Girl / Phoenix, arguably the most popular couple from the series.
Superman & Supergirl Costumes
No one likes Lois Lane (don’t kill me Superman fans, that’s true at least when it comes to costume parties!), so Super Girl’s classic outfit is a much better alternative if your partner wants to go as Superman himself. Check both costumes out here!
Transformers Costumes
What do you mean Transformers are technically not superheroes? They even had their own comic book series! In any case, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are the two most well-known ones and the perfect set for a party.
Male & Female Wolverine
Despite how great the character is in the comics, X-23 costumes aren’t quite here yet. Ladies will have to settle for a girl version of Wolverine’s classic yellow-and-blue outfit.
Movie & TV Couples Halloween Costumes
Top Gun Flight Suits Costumes
Top Gun is one of those classic movies that we can’t help but love. We know it’s cheesy, we know it’s campy, we know it’s unrealistic, and yet, we have so much fun with it… so why not dress pilot style and have some fun with it?
Gomez and Morticia (Adams Family)
Another classic costume. The Adams Family will live forever in pop culture, and that’s why dressing up as the two lead characters will always be so much fun. This is the perfect costume for those couples that have been together for a while.
Popeye & Olive Oyl costumes
Show the classics some love and wear some old-school costumes! Popeye and Olive Oyl are some of the most beloved classic characters from back in the day, and although a chain-smoking sailor might not be the most PC thing nowadays, this is all in good fun.
Alice in Wonderland costumes
You know it’s not Halloween unless someone is wearing a Tim Burton-inspired costume. Alice and the Mad Hatter make quite the couple, so this should work out great for all fans.
Spock and Uhura Costumes (Star Trek)
What do you mean Uhura is Kirk’s girlfriend and not Spock’s? Haven’t you been watching the latest few movies? Whatever the case may be, as long as the guy doesn’t wear a red shirt, everything should be more than fine. Get your Spock and Uhura costumes here!
Rick Grimes & Michone (The Walking Dead)
Following the lead of the previous costume, here’s another costume for interracial couples featuring two of the main leads in the hit TV show The Walking Dead. Rick and Michone both sport blades in these costumes which makes them extra cool.
Liono & Cheetara Costumes (Thundercats)
Ah, the 80s. It seems that they were only 30 years ago. These Thundercats costumes feature Lion-o and Cheetara and will delight anyone with a functioning nostalgia gland.
Power Rangers Costumes
Although we chose the White Ranger and Pink Ranger for this feature, be aware that you get to pick your own favorite ranger and wear whatever you want. Don’t let anyone stop you if you feel like being Blue, Red, Black or Yellow!
He-Man and She-Ra Costumes
This is a perfect costume for brother and sister. He-man and She-ra are some of the most iconic 80s characters ever created, and are perfect for this season.
Mr. Incredible & Mrs. Incredible Costumes (The Incredibles)
Here’s one for those couples that have been together forever. Now that The Incredibles 2 is rolling out soon, it’s the perfect time to wear a Mr. and Mrs. Incredible costumes, and you even get an option for adding suits for the children if you ever needed some good family Halloween costumes.
Jack Skellington & Sally Costumes (Nightmare Before Christmas)
Here’s another Tim Burton inspired costume for all his fans. This one is based off of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and depicts the beloved Jack Skellington along with his girlfriend Sally.
Daenerys Targaryen & Jon Snow Costumes (Game of Thrones)
Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are two of the most beloved characters from HBO’s Game of Thrones, and they’re seen here in their Mereen and Night’s Watch costumes. While we wait for season 6 and The Winds of Winter, here’s some costumes to geek out to.
Fred & Wilma Flintstone
Here’s yet another classic, a costume inspired by Hannah-Barbera’s classic The Flintstones depicting both Fred & Wilma. We guess you could also do Barney and Betty, but they just aren’t that iconic in comparison.
Shrek & Fionna (Shrek)
Fiona and Shrek are the anti-fairy tale come to life, and way easier to identify with than any other prince and princess costumes.
Gaming Couples Costumes
Mario & Peach Costumes (Super Mario Bros)
You just can’t have a list with gaming-themed costumes without featuring Mario and Peach, the king and queen of the gaming world! Be sure to not go around parties eating unidentified mushrooms, though, or the party might have a strange turn for the worse.
Male & female Mario (Super Mario Bros)
In case the ladies don’t like Peach (seriously, she gets kidnapped ALL THE TIME) here’s a Mario & Maria costumes equivalent with a sexy touch.
Male & female Luigi (Super Mario Bros)
Second siblings are people too! Luigi and Luigina (how else would you call the female version of Luigi?) are fantastic to wear in a group, along with the previous costume – even better if its a case of twins dating twins.
Pac-Man & Ghost
Pop pills, run from ghosts, and listen to electronic music – Pac-man knows how to party, but this is all about couple costumes, so along comes a Ghost to complete the set.
Assassin’s Creed costumes
The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is going to have both a female and male lead, but you don’t need to wait for the game to come out if you just wanna have some fun with costumes. The male version is very clearly inspired in Ezio, while its female counterpart looks more like something out of Black Flag, another beloved entry in the series.
Ryu and Chun-Li Costumes (Street Fighter)
Another of the most iconic couples in gaming, Chun-Li and Ryu from Street Fighter II bring some of their oriental charm with these martial arts outfits. And while adding choreography to costumes is awesome and a lot of fun, we recommend you don’t go around just hitting your partner – it’s not only illegal but also really tacky.
Kitana & Sub-Zero
Back in the 90s Mortal Kombat changed the way we thought about video games, but now its your job to change the way we think about parties. Here’s a set with the two most iconic blue leads, Sub-Zero and Kitana.
Male & Female Link Costumes (Legend of Zelda)
It’s surprisingly hard to find good Legend of Zelda costumes, especially if you’re looking for Zelda’s outfit. Luckily, Link looks fantastic both as a male or female, and couples both get to wield the Master Sword and be Heroes of Time together, because that is what a relationship is all about.
Anime Costumes
Bulma & Vegeta Costumes (Dragon Ball Z)
Vegeta and Bulma are Dragon Ball Z’s power couple (Sorry Goku & Chichi), so together they make a fantastic costume for anime fans. Vegeta even has an option of bleaching his hair and Bulma can use all kinds of gadgets while staying on character.
Eren & Mikasa Jaeger (Attack on Titan)
Apparently the latest Attack on Titan movie was a stinker, but that doesn’t make us love the show any less. Dress up as Eren & Mikasa Jaeger for Halloween, and stab some napes!
Historical Couples Costumes
Greek God & Godess Costumes
Come from Olympus down to party! You even get to pick which god exactly you want to be by adding a few props to this costume. We’ve always preferred the Titans, though.
Spartans Costumes
This isn’t madness, it’s just pure, unadultered fun costumes from Sparta! Guys will have to spend all night wielding a sword and shield, but whatever, we love to do that anyways.
Ninja Costumes
These might not be that historically accurate, but these ninja costumes sure look like the type of thing we’d enjoy wearing at a Halloween party.
Egyptian Pharaohs Costumes
Tutankhamun & Nefertiti, Julius Cesar and Cleopatra. pick your favorite pair of pharaohs (you have several thousands of years of history to choose from) and show up to the party. Be sure to praise the sun!
Pirates Costumes
The persona of swashbuckling buccaneers is the right attitude to bring to a gathering so get dressed in these pirate outfits and party on.
Gangster Couples Costumes
Most guys (and plenty of gals too) happen to love The Godfather, Goodfellas’ and other mafia-themed movies, so this gangster costume is worth considering if you feel nostalgia for a time you weren’t alive in.
Bavarians Couples Costumes
This Bavarian costume will give party-goers the perfect excuse to hold a full glass of beer all night long – it’s all about staying in character! Bonus points if you speak German.
Fun Couples Costumes
Bacon & Eggs Costumes
Nothing is greater than breakfast, and that’s why it makes such a fun costume. We’re very sorry, though, we weren’t able to find a vegan version.
Peanut Butter & Jelly
Dressing up as a snack can be strangely fun, and few snacks are as American as PB&J.
Socket & Plug Costumes
There is no such thing as “too silly” when it comes to the most fun night of the year, and this socket & plug costume will definitely get a couple laughs.
Wine & Cheese Costumes
Still with the food theme, but now with a classy touch, this wine and cheese costume will make everyone’s mouth water.
Hamburguer & Hot Dog Costumes
Nothing says “fun day out” quite like hot dogs & burgers – because hardly anything is more fun than eating. This is a fantastic costume for friends.
Ketchup & Mustard Costumes
It’s not a party until they add you to the mix – literally. This is another great fun costume that will get a few smiles here and there.
M&M’s Costumes
Wearing brands as costumes might not be the most anarchy punk type thing out there, but this costume is such a perfect fit for couples we can’t help but recommend it too.
