Just months after the release of the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C, rumours of the iPhone 6’s features have already begun and we have many of them detailed here.
Another year, another boatload of Apple-based speculation. While it was always unlikely that 2014 was going to change that, this new speculation is several months ahead of a confirmation from the iPad, iPhone and iMac makers themselves, although what it does suggest is that the Cupertino, Calif. based company is looking to solidify itself as a gadget leader, this time around making bigger changes to its products that aren’t purely cosmetic. Taken from past iterations of iPhones, however, are some familiar concepts that if they prove to be true, could equal a very interesting year for Apple indeed.
Many of the rumours written about on the web point to the iPhone 6 sporting a bigger and better screen. The screen of Apple iOS wonderment this time around could be both 4.7 and 5.5 inches. Yes, both of those screen sizes could be true as just like the release of the iPhone 5S and cheaper model, the iPhone 5C, the iPhone 6 could come in two flavours. One, it’s rumoured, will have a 4.7 inch screen with a 900 x 1660p resolution display and a 386ppi image density, while the other will have a 5.5 inch screen, a Full HD 1080 x 1920p resolution and a 401ppi image density, with both of these supposed specs being improvements from the iPhone 5S’ 640 x 1136p and 326ppi. This rumour could hold quite a bit of truth, if only for the fact that gaming handhelds like the Sony PS Vita and the Nintendo 3DS are operating in the same space as Apple’s iPhone and that the latter are looking to establish their gadgets even more so as gaming devices.
Not only this, but the rumour releases have also reiterated a frequently heard piece of speculation; that the Apple iWatch will finally make an appearance in 2014. With a supposed 1.3 or 1.6 inch screen size, perhaps Apple felt that the iWatch is literally too small to be announced by itself, as it’s being suggested that the iPhone 6 and the iWatch will be announced at the same time. And when will those announcements be? If past Apple press conferences are anything to go by, September 2014 looks to be the relative timeframe that we’re looking at, with The Inquirer saying that both the iPhone 6 and the iWatch will get 10th of September reveals and 20th of September retail dates, but as this is yet to be confirmed by Apple, we can’t know for sure until closer to that date.
We’ll keep you posted once we know more.
