Quench Your Nostalgia With the Mini MAME Arcade Cabinet

Ever feel sick for those cheesy old arcade games from the eighties and early nineties? Have no fear! With the Mini MAME Portable Arcade Cabinet, you can relive the days you were just a wee lad spending all of your allowance on Pac-Man and Donkey Kong!

The program MAME, which stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, lets you play all the old-school classics like Space Invaders and Mortal Kombat on your computer. You have the option of building a full-size cabinet like the ones you were used to as a kid, or you can make a miniature one as seen in the video. The plexiglass screen and the swing panel concealing the modem in the back work together to keep this sucker old-school.

The buttons and joystick are set up on I-Pac 2, and the Maximus Arcade program provides the site for playing all of your old favorites.

The investment would take a little effort on your part, as you would have to separate the screen of a laptop from its keyboard/modem. Or, you could find yourself a new screen to hook up to a modem. It’s all up to you and how large of a screen you want. But the look and feel of an old arcade cabinet is the goal here, so you can’t slack off and leave its surface blank instead of painting the Nintendo logo or Donkey Kong chucking a barrel at a crocodile.

The greatest thing about the Mini MAME is that it’s portable, and the great thing about it being portable is that you can take this sucker to parties! Be gone, old arcade rules! You may drink whatever you please around the Mini MAME.

If you’re still a fan of the games that gave birth to it all, you’d probably want to check out the Steampunk Pacman Arcade and Donkey Kong Game/Watch Handheld Game.
