3 LCD Screens in 1 Computer from Acme Portable

How great would it be to play a video game, design graphics, edit audio, and more on one 3 screen wide computer?

Acme Portable has designed portable computers that have 3 LCD screens built in. These are used for design, gaming, software and other necessary applications.

The 3 LCD Surround System is a powerful computer with enhanced graphics and mobility, which is folded into one portable box. 3 screens are folded neatly and may be easily expanded for an efficient wide screen effect. For example, the next time you are playing a racing game or a flight simulator, you have 3 separate screens for different sights in the game. These screens are also effortlessly retracted, to fold up neatly and comfortably.

The Box is made of heavy duty metal to protect it from hits, bumps and other incoming peril. Furthermore, a keyboard and mouse are also included as the entire system is integrated into one piece. It is a complete solution for having a multi-screen computer with you on the go.

A Kool USB Drive and Rechargeable Lighter

Nathan Gabriele through Yanko Design has created a new design concept of a 2 in 1 electric lighter and USB flash drive. The best part is that it is a Zippo lighter with a Kool logo.

This lighter isn’t like any others. It is electric and generates heat with the built-in resistance coils, working similar to our car lighters. Since this lighter is rechargeable by USB, there is no need to buy cheap lighters over and over again. By pressing on the chamber of the electric ‘flame’ (after it cooled down), a USB connection appears at the bottom of the lighter.

For those that already carry a lighter with them, this new design brings two useful products in one convenient package.

For The City: Environment Friendly and Stackable Rental Cars

Why search for parking for hours in a crowded place with our cars when there is an environment friendly, electric mini car that is easily rented, driven and parked.

When I visited Belgium last year, I saw a number of spots where bicycles were stationed next to each other. This service brought by Cyclocity, provides sturdy and comfortable bicycles to be rented by tourists and others every hour and day of the week. These were placed in different strategic places in Brussels, and it was very nice to see different people using this service instead of taking a car, taxi, or bus.

Especially in large cities that are highly congested, driving your car sometimes just doesn’t pay off. Finding parking, paying for gas, and time spent for the two can sometimes be a burden.

The MIT Media Lab Group, Smart Cities, is currently developing an electric CITY CAR, which will enrich our lives, change mass transit, and help reduce pollution. It is being tested and further developed in New York City. If you have visited NYC you probably know how parking and transportation there is a never ending dilemma.

The concept of these cars is similar to the shopping carts at your local super market: easy, convenient, and space efficient. These are to be ‘stacked’ behind one another in convenient and prime locations. By being stacked, they take up less space and are able to be provided for more individuals. The City Car has space for two and is strong enough to take a trip around the city with it.

So how does it stack up? A part of the car stands up in order for the one behind it to stack up straight against it (also charging the electric motor). A group of six or eight of the City Cars would occupy approximately one conventional space. The design of the car is based on a “robot wheel” that holds the motor, suspension and steering.

These little cars look so fun to drive and park, I hope to try them out one day.

A Virtual Air Hockey Game

Can you imagine playing the popular Air Hockey game but without the hockey puck? Now you can!

Andrew Fentem (inventor of the Fentix Cube) built a Virtual Air Hockey table that combines the original game with a display of bright lighting and enhanced speed.

I always loved playing the original game with my Dad. He doesn’t understand technology or Internet like I do, but in various sports and games like Air Hockey he puts me to shame. I wonder, since this new version adds some more technology, if I would finally gain an advantage on my Dad.

You can see how it works in the video below.

Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition Without The Paper Money

Monopoly Electronic Banking EditionDon’t lose track of all the paper money in the Monopoly Game. Keep a record of all players and their finances with the Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition.

I remember the days when I played Monopoly with my friends and family. There were always someone (usually me) who was in charge of the cashier duties and dealt the paper money to all of the players. Of course this person sometimes had the “permission” to lose track of the money or even steal a bill or two to compensate the cashier’s difficult but required job.

To hold the Monopoly paper bills in my hands as a kid was a thrill, since it felt like real money, and a lot of it! In today’s world, less and less individuals are carrying cash with them and prefer using their credit or debit cards for daily transactions.

The popular game Monopoly made a real life adjustment as well. The classic board game has been updated with electronic banking instead of regular paper money. The first time I saw it I was shocked! It’s like taking an important core of the game out, but after a few minutes I realized that’s not necessarily true. Nowadays, kids are familiar with debit or credit cards from a younger age.

The world is changing, technology advancing and our old favorite box games are changing accordingly.

The Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition is available for under $30 at Amazon.com. You can also see a short clip of the game there.

Either with paper bills or the electronics calculator, I still think Monopoly is one of the greatest social games for all ages!

Serenata Phone by Samsung and Bang & Olufsen

The Serenata Mobile is a duet of two powerhouses – Samsung and Bang & Olufsen. On first look it seems as if it is an art piece to be hung on the wall, but the specifications state it is a daily phone and music player – let’s take a look at the different features.

Phone: The Serenata comes with built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers to provide enhanced acoustics and sound. During conference calls or listening to music, a stand unfolds for convenience and elegance.

For you productive users, this phone also synchronizes with Microsoft Outlook, so all your contacts, calendar, and “to-do” lists are always up to date. There is accessibility to different computer files with the Bluetooth connection and also with the bundled Samsung software. Furthermore, an array of 3G/GSM networks is available for quick data transfer, email, podcasts, and other means of communication.

It comes with a navigation wheel to be used for calling, messaging, and more. I still wonder about its simplicity, for dialing is done like an old retro phone (see video below). Is this comfortable or time consuming?

Music: The Hi-Fi speakers of Bang & Olufsen play a major part in the music player. They offer remarkable sound, clarity, and the actual bass is clearly apparent without the frequent and mostly common distortion. The navigation wheel, similar to the iPod wheel, allows you to scroll through songs and albums on your phone easily and efficiently.

It currently has a 4GB flash memory for storage of your music and photos. In addition, the Serenata phone also has easy and quick transfer of music, covers and more by USB or the 3G mobile network.

The Serenata does indeed own to its neat features and ability. Will its size, interface and price be attractive to mobile customers…only users can say.

Below is a short video by T3 TV of the new Serenata. You can also see a video testimonial here on Youtube.

Open Social: Google Launches Their Own Social Network Project

We are all familiar with Facebook, Myspace, Hi5, Friendster, and the hundreds, if not thousands, of other Social Networks. Well, Google sat, observed the growing success, and decided they now want a piece of the pie.

Google is ready to launch their own project to attempt and collect some of the millions of users. Tomorrow is the day that OpenSocial (link will only work after Thursday’s launch) goes on the air.

Goole's OpenSocialWhat is Open Social?

It is NOT a platform like the others. Google is launching a few common Application Programming Interfaces (API) for application developers to be able to build and use on other social networks. They have provided a place, so applications can be built easier and faster, for it uses javascript and html, and may also embed flash. Developers can amend their application a lot easier then the current rules and requirements of the Facebook Applications.

The host sites that are already on board to allow these applications are: LinkedIn, Plaxo, Friendster, Hi5, and more.

Update: As of November 1st, Myspace, Bebo and SixApart have also signed on as hosts of Open Social.

If you plan on (or are) developing some new apps using Open Social, please share it with us.

A Smiling Mac-O-Lantern for Halloween

Why store that old Mac in the garage, when you can use it as a Jack-O-Lantern?

Here is Apple in a whole different color…orange for Halloween.

Bad Banana Blog has currently posted an item on how to build a Mac-O-Lantern (here). Just a few cans of spray and epoxy are needed, besides that old Mac. The best part is that there is no need to get messy with the pumpkin.

Have a Happy Halloween!
