If John Lennon inspired revolutionists with his song “Power to the People,” Sanyo intends to help people spend more time on the road, by powering their gadgets with the latest addition to the eneloop line, the mobile booster.
A few years ago, Sanyo revolutionized the battery world with the launch of eneloop rechargeable batteries, which came already charged and were ready for use right away. Not only that, but they were also able to store the charge for longer periods of time than other rechargeable batteries.
On April 5, 2001, Sanyo launched a new series of products in the eneloop family, known as Mobile Boosters. There are three versions available, one based on AA batteries and two that include a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. As more and more gadgets get charged via USB, it is not difficult to understand why Sanyo made this move. The first model, known as KBC-E1S-E is pictured above with 2 eneloop rechargeable batteries, which represent the source of current. Of course, other batteries can be used, but considering the reliability of the eneloop ones, they probably represent the best solution.
Pictured above is the KBC-L2S-E eneloop Mobile Booster, which comes with 2 USB ports and has a capacity of 5000 mAh. Considering that most smartphones come with batteries with a capacity that does not exceed 2000 mAh, the Mobile Booster is more than enough, when used as a backup. The lithium-ion battery encased by this model of Mobile Booster can be charged either via DC in around 7 hours, or via USB in 14 hours. Once fully charged, the battery provides a current of 5V and 1000 mAh if a single USB device is connected, or 5V and 500 mAh (the same as an USB port from the computer) if both the USB ports are used.
Most devices that get charged via USB have a miniUSB connector. However, in order to assure that a wider range of gadgets can be used, Sanyo includes a miniUSB to microUSB adapter. The entire line of eneloop Mobile Boosters is made of reliable products that assure the necessary power when on the road.
