SteamOS: An Operating System Revolving Around Games

It was obvious that a gaming platform was not enough for Valve. To personalize the experience, the company needed to come up with an entire operating system that is built around games. SteamOS, which was announced by Valve a few days ago, is certainly no contestant for Microsoft or Apple's operating systems, as it focuses on only one variable of the equation: gaming. However, it would not be wrong to assume that Valve's purpose is to dethrone Windows from the position of main platform for games. Assuming that SteamOS takes off properly and Valve's user base continues to increase, it shouldn't be difficult for the company to convince game developers that porting or creating their products for this OS is the logical thing to do.
